What to use for filtering sound? i found fab-filter very interesting but its little bit complicated with all those buttons..

Post

Try a search on this forum and you'll find plenty of filter discussions.

For me, Volcano (is that what you meant?) is an excellent choice. Nitro is great as well. Also check OhmForce, and don't forget CamelPhat.

There's a lot to choose from. The ones mentioned already, Frantic from BasementArts (with questionable guerilla advertising as a bonus!), Antares Filter...

Soundwise, Volcano is the one for me. But featurewise (as you said about Volcano being difficult to use)... They're all more or less filled with controls, and Volcano is actually one of the easier ones to use. Nitro is at the other end - though it contains so much more than just filters. Antares might be easy to use for some people, though it fills your screens with knobs, pots, switches, thingamajigs and displays. OhmForce's QuadFrohmage is a beast and might take you while to get a grip on.

As usual, you just need to try out which one suits you. And listen to how each filter sounds, as they're all somewhat unique.

Thought I'd mention a few more, just to give you more choices... good old ZapFilter (whas it called that?), used to cost like $12.50 and had more than a dozen different filters. And Obertone Filterbank - no GUI but enough features and character in the sound department to be of competition to the pricy ones.

Happy filtering,

JMH

I have several filters.

Ohmforce QF, Filterscape, Nitro, waldorf d-pole and some reaktor ones.

I think it depends on what you want.
there is really good discussion on this so search for that and
mean time.

I think,
if you want just really good filter go for Ohmforce.
if you want sort of like filter + multi FX go for Nitro.
if you want something unique go for Filterscape.

that's my thoughts
