So, what is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten for making music?
For me, its actually from someone's sig here -- DevonB's to be exact..
"Those who can, make music. Those who can't, make excuses."
Best piece of advice I've ever gotten.
What about you people?

For me, that would have to be, "don't put salt in your eyes."
I learned that the hard way...

For me it was "forget singing - learn an instrument"
My singing is actually illegal in six countries (and two languages)
Regards,
Derek.

Seriously though, someone here told me to not get held up on one little thing to the point of not being able to finish a song, as it is better to at least complete something and then approve upon it as opposed to going nowhere by getting hung up little technical stuff.i'm a balless cocksucking robot who likes to think about carrots and likes to shit and feel the anus.
can you feel the anus here with us, now?

Well, I took it as advice that meant "stop bitching about what kind of gear you need. You'll always learn more by actually making songs."CypherOne wrote:that's not advice tho is it? more like a statement.the_nihilist wrote:So, what is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten for making music?

One of the most important realizations that I've ever had is that the harder a descision is, the less that there must be at stake. Obviously if the descision is between two (or more) possible outcomes and it's hard to choose between them, then it really shouldn't make any difference. The irony is, that the harder it is to decide, the easier it really should be since the different outcomes are so closely matched.Chase wrote:Seriously though, someone here told me to not get held up on one little thing to the point of not being able to finish a song, as it is better to at least complete something and then approve upon it as opposed to going nowhere by getting hung up little technical stuff.i'm a balless cocksucking robot who likes to think about carrots and likes to shit and feel the anus.

In these cases, the best thing to do is just flip a coin or use a Magic 8 Ball®! BTW, I have a Magic 8 Ball®, on my desk at work, at all times. I rarely use it these days but it has come in handy on occasion.

'Maybe music isn't your thing.' Pissed me off enough to keep going just to spite the bastard.
