that's your problem...
huh jens? I'm asking for a comparison, I can start a new thread to ask. I have a decent sequencer & a few good samplers, what I'd like is a cheap modular host environment. Both Console & eXT seem to fit the bill, so in terms of modular hosting, is eXT that much better than Console? Im certainly not trying to put down either host, they both seem great. The DX abilities of Console are tempting me so can someone please help and give me a constructive piece of advice regarding the modular capabilites/limitations of either host? Someone who knows both preferably....

it suddenly strikes me, im trying to decide (and so was the original author of this post) on a good cheap host (an extra modular one in my case).

The biggest problem today is really how many great products are out there...

Psycle is free so you might as well at least try it.
EnergyXT is a what I would buy If I had 50 bucks to spend.
However at the moment I don't so....... ;)

Computer Muzys is very cheap. I'm using it at the moment :). Just have to buy one issue of Computer Music Magazine 5.99 in U.K (don't know overseas prices). It's very simple to use and is a pretty stable host and it doesn't install stuff into your registry (just unzip it where you want to use it). It does record audio has integrated midi and audio editing with an 8 track mixer/studio combined. It allows up to 15 vst plugins at a time (up to 5 Instruments/VSTIs & and up to 10 Effects). I'm very happy with it considering it's just about free.

Post

regarding my previous post on computer muzys. I listed themthings I like about it. Themin thing Idon't like is it seems you can't bounce MIDI to a VST effect sitting on an audio channel so MIDI gates/filters etc don't work. Or maybe it's just me.

typos, guess I'll start using the preview option on here then. :)
