Mate, this is a good place to go. Samples by myself, xoxos and many others. Only quality stuff from what Iv seen / heard.
Other than that its a good idea to check the sample developers sites. They quite often give away free samples as a teaser. Zero-G, elab, VIPzone just to name a few.
Tell you what though, the cheapest samples out of all are limitless - the ones you make yourself! You should give it a try, vey liberating.

It sure would be good to have a site (like Hammersound.net used to be) where soundfonts were organized. sf2midi is the best big one we have, but bad search capability and poorly organized, and limited to sf2 format only (not even compressed sf2 is allowed).
But I suggested that here earlier and nobody seemed to think it was a good idea. Hmmph.
