I'm really transgenre, or at least a genre-bender, or is that cross-genre? Well, certainly not homogenre, though I'm not homogenrephobic. Maybe omnigenre is a better way to describe me . . . shit, let's face it, I'm just totally genre confused.

Genres are evil.

Yeah, and so are band names. And song names. Anything that would help me find specific music that I want to hear is evil and must be stopped.
I always go to the record shop with a blindfold on and pick things at random throughout the store, just to make sure that my purchases aren't influenced by the shop's nefarious plan of putting similar sounding music next to each other. Sure, I usually have to spend hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars to find a single CD I like whenever I shop this way, but at least I'm avoiding the evils of categorization. And as soon as I get home, I burn all the cds to unlabeled discs and throw away the originals, and THEN I take off the blindfold. Just to make sure I don't try and make anything easy for myself.

What, did you think I needed to see all of those evil named streets? Trying to impose a name on a street, with all of it's different residents, and different houses is just WRONG. Sure, I end up killing a few people on the way home from the shop, but at least I can listen to my music knowing I did everything in my power to stop the Global Genrefacation.

Even somebody who isn't even into metal at all can easily hear some of the obvious differences between death and black metal.

Hmm... I can't, most of the time.

I don't see a stylistic difference between these 2, certainly not enough to classify them differently.

But a street is a street is a street (or avenue, boulevard, etc). Its either 1 or 2 way, or a dead end. They aren't "gravel street, hilly street, flat street", because that isn't neccessary.

I don't I mind the groupings as much as the notion of bands / artists being pigeonholed into genres, and if they span several, they absolutely must be given "something" to be called.

And then god forbid if you want to change things up and try to break out of said genre.

I think Bar Code Labels are best!
Record labels are bad 'cause they never pay the royalities without a fight. And I think the 'Parental Warning' Labels were a total failure. It really didn't increase the sales to parents. At least not mine.
