 I brought the Giga version in the blow out before Xmas and he only had "TEN" copies left then :?

And I paid $99 :x

Ouch. :?

I was actually surprised to see this offer still running, I would have thought they’d be snapped up pretty quickly even at $99. Are you happy with the samples?

Hi Yoss

Well I got EWQLSO Gold in the group buy just before Virtuoso Series arrived and was so happy with that
I never even got as far as opening Virtuoso Series
as I thought I might sell it and get my mony back
but never got round to it :!:

I considered the $99 blow-out offer briefly, just because it seemed like a great deal. In the end I decided not to go for it as I had also joined the Gold group buy and didn’t think the Virtuoso strings would bring anything that wasn’t covered by Gold. Now at $49 I’m almost tempted again, but only almost. :hihi:

I hope Miroslav Philharmonik is a little more than weepy slush though because I've already pre-ordered it.

From what I understand the SR guys are going to town tailoring it for the ST2 engine so that it is full of performance goodness at the end.

If it's a con then I've been well-and-truly suckered in.
I used Miroslav for a little while a few years ago when there was little to choose from.

On slower numbers the tone was quite beautiful, and there were a numbre of presets to choose from - all very lush.

But on faster numbers the attacks were too slow.

So, say, a Mozart or Vivaldi allegro would struggle, and start to pant.

There was a fast legato preset which attacked fast, but it had no sustain, and no possibility of key triggering.

Since I like fast string sections, I decided Miroslav wasn't for me.

But who knows what the Squidster and his team can come up with. I say this with good intent as Squids has a great ear for a preset, and he certainly knows his business.

Maybe the fast legato can be looped? Or merged with another longer preset for the sustain loop? Maybe there are other things the ST2 engine can do?

But attack speed aside, Miroslav sounded quite lovely.

...

btw anyone know of a good Irish Fiddle?

It has been mentioned on a number of occasions that Sonic Reality have the entire original sessions, which include tons of material that was recorded but didn't make it to the original libraries.

I don't know the details. I wasn't on the sound design team. Philharmonik is almost out, so you'll probably be able to find out pretty soon.

IK are pretty good at keeping secrets. Strictly speaking, I'm representing eSoundz, not IK. I'm a product specialist, not an insider.

Well Kim, once you've got your head around Philharmonik (I'm sure you'll be getting it :)) maybe you can come around and show me how to get the best results out of it.

:D

Hey - you're in Melbourne too! That could actually work...

Of course it could work.
Don't you think I've sussed out the REAL advantage of having an IK/SR product specialist in my home town? :D
