Aah yes?
Then you own one?
I do, you have a question?
Yes. But not to you.

nope, I just use it... (dunno what your point is though...)

I don't care if no one ever mentions "transistor slew rate", my point is that slew rate is not a measurement that can only be applied to op-amps.
I'm just saying it's not in any of my books or prior knowledge. Terms change over time I guess you could say terms have a slew rate too? :D

Regards
Technical terms do indeed change from time to time, or from place to place.

Regarding slew rate, have you ever measured an amplifier's maximum slew rate? You can feed an audio amplifier with a square wave from a signal generator, while watching the output on an oscilloscope. Slowly increase the frequency of the signal generator until you start to get a triangle wave at the output. At this point, use the scope to measure the amount of change in voltage over a convenient period of time. This is the maximum slew rate of the amplifier. This exercise can be done with many types of audio amps--not just op-amps.

take care,

Could you then please explain, what that nutter smily was for? The typical post rising performed by you all the time or a hint to something, maybe an opinion of you? It became not that clear...

if you didn't get it this way that's your problem as I am unwilling to explain it any further!

Wir sind hier doch nicht im Kindergarten! :nutter:

:hihi:

You are the person, who is here a nutter.

Because you snipped out that sentence from Highvoltage without any relation to the entire claim he made. He actually did not say, that Prophecy (please note, that you spelled it wrongly) is an analog synthesizer. He even told us, that he is surprised, that it (as a digital synth) sounds that strong compared to most software (VSTis) ...

But that is very typical from you. You always skip anywhere in, without reading and understanding the entire topic and then you start to perform your senseless post count rising with exessive support of smilies.

:nutter:

You are not that smart as you meight believe. But maybe it is only the language barrier ... :hihi:

Ok, now go back to your callboy activities...

The ironic thing here is that you do not seem to realize that my knowledge of English is far superior to yours.
(even if a typo slips in unnoticed every now and then to my posts...)

:hihi: That obviously did not prevent you for making stupid remarks. A superiour knowledgement in English don't guarant for being and acting always smart or even understanding the sense of the message - obviously, as anyone can see now.

And your reply shows very well, that you are not even able to say something to your mistake or the entire subject of discussion. But you preferred to count my spelling mistakes ...

How childish.

it's

- prevent you from sth.

- knowledge (of sth.)

- guarantee

Your grammar is terrible b.t.w.!

Right. But I did not claim something different.

Nonetheless you were cheeky enough to comment on a typo of mine...

Yes, yes. A typo.
...claims to have played a Prophecy, but made it to a "phrophecy"...

Strange typo.

If you played it in the same manner as you wrote it, then it probably sounded wrong (like cheap software) because of that ... :hihi:

You are (for some reasons) not the person, who is able to :P demoralize me.

Post

if you moron knew what 'prophecy' means you would realize how obviously it was a mere typo...

(prophecy = Prophezeiung - the word 'Phrophecy' doesn't exist at all)

Thank you for teaching me, but I did know that already.

Funny in here

back to the topic: The whole discussion about slew rates is a rather theoretical one. Please remember that human perception ends at some 20 or 22 kHz.

This is the range in which we perceive everything that happens sonically (even those buzzy sawtooths from analog synthesizers, mind you!)

So for a virtual analog oscillator it is important to reproduce as much spectral content as needed in that band, without attenuation in he highs of course.

For anti-aliasing and headroom for stuff like crossmodulation you need of course some internal oversampling, but the 'external' rate can stay at 44 or 48 kHz.

Just think of an analog synthesizer recorded on a 44.1 kHz audio CD. Is ist buzzy? Yes! Does it sound 'analog'? Of course!

So what counts is oversampling and the creativity of the developers to find quality algorithms for the non-linearities in analog circuits.
