The forthcoming album, 'Black Ships Ate the Sky' features an all-star (sort of) cast of (Late)Tibet, Michael Cashmore, Steven Stapleton, Marc Almond, Rose MacDowall, Will 'Bonnie Prince Billy' Oldham, Simon Finn, Antony (of the Johnsons) and Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance/Comets on Fire). The single starts out very pastoral in their usual way, but then turns into very violent noise psychedelia at the halfway point - very intense.
Impressive line-up. Like a Thunder Perfect Mind².
The Brain is archived, no? I'll check it out.

Could it be that there's a promo out (not the single you describe)? I recall hearing a Current 93 track on the radio the other day with a title much like "Black Ships Ate The Sky". If it is, it's insanely beautiful.

I think it's the single - it's actually in two parts that sort of function as separate songs, and the full title is 'At sunset black ships ate the sky'. And it is insanely beautiful, like much of their work.
I also recommend the newly released 2CD of last years' Toronto concerts - beautifully recorded, and a fine memento - quite a cross section of new and old tracks going back to 'Imperium'. Not the same as being there, mind you, but the next best thing.

OK.
I think it's very cool to be able to hear this on the radio.

I just subscribed to the Brain's podcast which was called "A Souvenir From Toronto". 'Nuff said. Very nice.
Nice to hear some new stuff by Finn, too.

PS: Speaking of podcasts, I can recommend subscribing to Vital Weekly's podcast, if you haven't already. Lots of good stuff.

I've checked it out before - used to subscribe to Vital's printed version many many years ago. I find my taste and theirs have diverged somewhat in the intervening years though - a little heavy on the electronica for my taste.
