For a free recomendation i'll second obertone's filterbank - just got hold of that & while I usually bin plug ins without a custom gui fairly quickly I reckon that this one is a keeper.

I see that Fabfilter 1.10 is out with a refreshed demo period.

it now has

- EG MIDI note-on triggering
- LFO MIDI note-on triggering
- Filter frequency MIDI note-on triggering
- Dotted/Triplets mode for the LFOs
- Option to link the cut-off, peak and panning knobs for both filters
- Two new filter characteristics 'Gentle' and 'Extreme'

FabFilter Volcano 1.1 is out and rocking. There's a lot of good filters out there. Right now I'm using Volcano mainly, and the free OhmForce stuff as well.
