what seems to be the problem? Im assuming that you listen to dance music right?
Perhaps you should just "copy" a song that you like.Try to use similiar sounds and pay attention to the arrangement.
Want me to walk you through it? OK....here goes, seriously.
1. find a 2-bar loop that has some midrange content, such as piano or guitar. Now set that up to loop for ONE bar.
2. program a beat using some sampled hits taken from dance songs you like, this way they'll sound nice and produced already.
3. program a bassline that goes with the 2 bar sampled loop, but also set this up to loop for one bar.
4. In your sequencer route the bassline and sample through a lowpass filter. Assign the filters cutoff and resonance to knobs on any controller that you may have.
5. now record automation of the filter and resonance by starting off with a low cutoff and gradually raising it over time.
6. At 32 or 64 bars in have the bass and sample both switch to the full 2 bar loop which should sound pretty dramatic and raise the energy of your track.
7. program some "squiggly" synth line and a pad part.
8. arrange to taste and add some sound efx or synth sweeps, perhaps using a delay with a lot of feedback for atmospherics.

Soulkraka has the formula down pat. 909 kick on beats 1234, 909 open hat on the up beat. Sample spock saying thats not logical captain kirk, use a 3 octave arpeggiated synth and hold down C6. Distorted bassline on c2 that is in time with the 909 hats.
