Is this trance? Or even mildly trance?

Electronic music is really cool and fun to make, I just thought I'd like to really get to know the different subgenres. I was working on a song the other day that I thought was mildly trance, so I thought I'd get you guys' opinions.

Sounds like video game music to me. :P

It's not just videogame music. It's videogame music from the eighties(or early 90s)!!! That archaic kind of music that keeps repeating until you shout 30 distinct swear words in frustration and throw the NES out the window(which, by the way, is a very stupid thing to do). I can almost see the 15 pixel motorbike speeding furiously through the 40 pixel road. That's powerful stuff. Nice work.

ugh, sounds horrible, (for trance) so I would not call it that...just about anything passes for trance these days I'm afraid...Yes, it's gametrack music...or maybe some obscure home keyboard demo :hihi:

Oh, by the way, just in case you're wondering... That was a compliment.

Hahah, yeah. Trance tends to use that heavy sync effect (it makes it sound kinda out-of-tune) on the leads too, right?

the arp that starts in the beginning is very cool and very much Trance. The lead that starts at 0.40 sec. is on the other hand NOT Trance, but Spacesynth, a more 80's inspired genre. Did you play that lead live btw?

Ah! Okay, that's starting to make sense. Is "Spacesynth" the official nomenclature?

Yeah, the lead is live. How did you guess? :P

I'd say this clip is more of Spacesynth with trance spice. Just more 80s stuff and melody into it, and it's more Spacesynth.

Spacesynth is the correct genre name (goes also with aliases Synthdance, Synthersizer Dance, Spacedance, Spacedisco, etc.).
