Is it posibile to play the Sonik Synth2 content with ST2. Would I be missing out on something by avoiding the SS2 module. What is the differance between ST2 and SS2.

Hello :) ,

Yes you can play the Sonik Synth 2 sounds from ST2. That's how I do it. I like having all my sounds, all categorized, in one interface. You will just be missing out on the nice SS2 GUI.

The only thing that is different is the GUI?

Actually, St2 has slightly more functionality. I can't remember exactly what, but ST2 has more of certain things, and can do a few things that SS2 can't do.. Someone that knows will step in and tell you.

The main advantage of using the ST2 plugin instead of SS2 is that it allows you to access all your SampleTank libraries in one place. You can also easily combine and layer sounds from different libraries.

There are some minor differences too - like the ability to bypass or lock the whole effects chain, the ability to load and save a whole effects chain, the ability to view instrument info (including its size) before loading it, the ability to switch loop sync off, the ability to set loop sync to global or per-part, the ability to set the plugin colour (although SS2 looks beautiful!), the ability to see all 16 parts at once ... that's all I can think of for now.

Hope that helps.

to add to kim's post, in st2 you can:
-browse patches with up and down arrows
-set a global polyphony limit
-relist and All functions
-chord preview
-program change messages
-import samples like WAVs or other formats

i think the big difference between the two is the loop sync and the effect chain settings.

but most importantly: both plugins have a spinning fan on the back of the panel!
