True bollocks.
This is the kind of method to spread myths.

It simply doesn't matter whether you lower the gain of individual tracks or on your master to avoid master clipping, as long as you're staying inside somewhat "reasonable" limits.

I just made a test in Logic (5.5.1 PC), inserted two "gainer" plugins on an audio track, raised both of them by 24dB (that's 48dB in total... allready WAY beyond what I'd call "reasonable), then inserted another gainer plugin on the master and lowered it by 48dB.
Then I bounced the file down, reimported and inverted it, switched off the gainers and listened to the two files together.
=> Silence.

This clearly puts your point into the realm of myths.
I'm sure the same test will yield 100% the same results in Cubase SX.

I recommend LT1(BuzComp) to all the people who are using BuzMaxi3 now.

LT1 is the expansion version of BuzMaxi3.
Are they different plugins or does the commercial version just have more control. Different/better sound etc or not?

Thanks

The sounds character is fundamentally the same, non-colored sound.
But, you can design the sounds more flexibly by operating the parameters.

I have *finally* managed to grab some time to actually mess round with some of the plugs you lot rave about.

Morelia...so far the most notable difference is the extra hooks you have to shape the limiting in the new LT1 version. That and more choices for the threshold "clip" shaping.

Personally I like the option of defeating any auto release control. Some "auto release" control implementations can impart a slight nervousness that I do not particularily admire. Tracks with very deep sustaining bass coupled with a percussive, dynamically active rythmn section can cause ARCs to "hunt" a bit. In these cases, manual tweaking of the attack and release can sort things. Ken has made the right choice by including these options, and for providing the user with a depth (strength) control for his auto release function. My initial impression is that this limiter can be shaped to a wide variety of material, and seems to have a relatively graceful attitude.

I would like to hear it on the full range mains before making any critical judgements...but as it stands now, I would prefer this newer limiter to the older predecessor.

And Ken...good job on these GUIs, mate. The *perfect* balance between form and function...just like a finely crafted Katana.

Really, really nice.

Thanks for the feedback kilroy and RNr. I'll have a bit more of a playaround but this looks like well worth the purchase.

Katana's, that takes me back.
