grotman,
I am going to buck the trend on this thread and say that I couldn't agree more.

I'm waiting for Virtual Digital synths to appear on the market.

Sadly. The topic is dead again. :(

Did someone call for a baffoon??? We can deliver baffoonery 24 hours a day anywhere in the world. Just call Baffoons-R-Us now. Baffoons are standing by. :clown:
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

Gotta adress this thing this way instead of of those quotes within quotes postings ;)
grotman wrote:Just slightly a little bit off topic......... but I see so many mentions from so called or self appointed synth experts, the same bloody comment. It is that many young people or people in general have no idea about what they are talking about when they comment on synths of yore being emulated accurately and sound like the real thing, because they have not played the real thing. Okay maybe not all do...... but have you thought for a minute or two that maybe they do have an educated opinion on the topic... I have never played a real moog or CS80 or in fact most of them.... but does it matter that i didn't play these things to know what they sounded like.... nah not really......they were on most of my favorite albums..... do i know what they sound like or what a pretty good emulation would sound like ..... f**k yeah i heard em a million times in albums, movies well hell just about evrythin electronic music is related to...... This is the funny thing about synth players and afficioandos i never get.... Man have you guys ever played a stradivarius, a Pearl\Brady drum kit, a fender\gibson guitar\bass maybe not maybe so but i bet you know what they would sound like and whether or not they were accurately modelled\represented in a software recreation... if not;excellent just dont go spouting crap about people that probably wouldn't ever get a chance to play let alone see in real life but know the sound very well and state they couldn't or shouldn't have an opinion of its authenticity....Sounds pretty ignorant to me... could be just me though :-o
Put simply: if they don't have real hands-on experience with the real thing, they cannot have an educated opinion. It's one of those hard to swallow bits of reality. It's the exact opposite of ignorance, it's called knowledge ;)

Not to even go to the direction of "you aren't hearing those things on records as-is, dry, without any processing whatsoever" and such trivialities :)
crimsontider wrote:And so are you in that someone with no hands on experience but a good ear could be a better judge than a buffoon who owns the hardware synth.
As much as I'd like to disagree... KVR pretty much has already shown how true that is =)

No. The problem is, that the VST market will be flooded more and more with shit.

That shit seems to duplicate itselfes with enormous speed. And the people seems to eat more and more that shit, believing it was soft ice.
Newbes have no chance to really collect basic knowledgement and discover the great traditions of music production, because of that omnipotent selfreproducing make-me-stupid machinery, which isn't to stop anymore.

At the beginning (of VST) seemed to be a flash light of intuitivity and creativity, but now I get the impression, that something very different dominates the game, ready to win it ...

Probably we all will suffocate on that soon. :hihi:
Prost!

it's buffoon guys
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Probably the only way out of that misery is to go the way of elitism. Separating the shit from the soft ice and keeping cool ... :hihi:
