Here's a snippet of Snoop Doggs "Fresh Pair of Panties on":
http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/temp/panties.mp3

WTF is going on there? The pattern is continuing all throughout the song and I've got NO clue about how it's organized rhythmically.
Strange thing as it still sounds kinda organic.

Btw, kickass album.

I'm counting it as a 4 syncopated around the 'and' of the bar (And 1 and 2 and 3 and 4).

Of course, now that music theory has been applied it's just a bunch of derivative crap...

Hm... I tried all sorts of counting. Even loaded it into Logic to go for some analysis. All without results.

8/4 timing: with the kick on 1 and 6 , snair on 4, and the little open hat thing on the 2-and , between 2 & 3.

Sorry, Landphil, I doubt that. It'd mean I could at least tap something all throughout the loop - which seems to be impossible.

If someone actually *knows* what's going on there, I'd be really happy if the person in question could post the clip back, with a metronome click added.
I mean, so far it just looks as if they were simply knocking something together, probably being totally whacked off, so they just thought "hey, cool!" and didn't care about anything else. And of course it's working... to my big amazement though. I'd like to see someone dance to it :)

it is 8/4 though.... you could try counting it as 5-3-5-3

Can you post a version with a click added, farlukar?

Not being afraid to reaveal my near-total ignorance of conventional time signatures and theory, I'll suggest: 6/8 ?

8:8 with bassdrum at 1 & 4 and snare on 7

The hihat is placed syncopically slightly in front of 6

To me it's easy to follow the beat but I wouldn't know how to name it in official music terms.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Post

Hmmm... if you can follow the beat, please do me a favour and add a metronome!
Seriously, it's all ok with me too, until shortly before the repeat starts.

Here, with a basic beat

[edit]
Maybe easiest to count 3-3-2-3-3-2

I hear 98bpm 4 beats per bar with the snare on the second beat: here

Wow! I'm impressed!
I'm not really a n00b when it comes to rhythms, but this one I couldn't manage.

Thanks, mate, really thanks!
