The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

GE- I bought a GE television, the second the warranty expired it began to emit a high pitched whine, and then the CRT got this nice yellow tint to it, still is not replaced.Chase wrote:can i ask you whats wrong with GE, steinburg, image line, E-nu, and canon?CorrosiveGod wrote:E-MU

Steinberg- Too many bad experiences with Cubase, Cubasis, and Nuendo.
Image Line - FL is nice but they need better VST support.
E-MU - Someone at E-MU please get retrained how to make *GOOD* drivers, Proteus X doesn't work in Logic 5.5.1 and Proteus X is PC only.
Canon- Every printer/scanner/copier I am asked to look at it's a Canon, and I have to explain to them that I can't fix it.

btw I had some cable trouble friday, I was talking to a supervisor (I was so put out I actually drove to the local coporate hq)...comcast has issues....anyhow we were in his office talking and we spoke about customer service, he showed me some stats that were done by a polling company that backed me up. When someone has a good experience with a company they tell on average about 3 people. However when they have a bad experience the tell an average of 12 people...
@ chase, you should read this thread remembering it's all based on individual's experiences with companies, you're likely not going to agree with a lot. Like IL, Iwould buy from them again and infact I have. On the otherhand after a second time being double billed by share-it, if it's over twenty bux I be hard pressed to buy anything from them again...the fact they never responded to my email puts a nail in it. But I'm sure I'm in the minority here, there maybe nothing wrong with acompany, but once a customers faith has been broken it's tough to repair. Sadly I do not think enough companies are insightful enough to see this blatantly obvious wisdom....

I have a suspicion that the E-mu driver situation might be a symptom of the influence of Creative, which actually bought E-mu. I don't remember hearing lots of complaints about E-mu, till after the buyout.CorrosiveGod wrote: E-MU - Someone at E-MU please get retrained how to make *GOOD* drivers, Proteus X doesn't work in Logic 5.5.1 and Proteus X is PC only.

As for Canon, that's only one narrow facet of their business. They make some nice professional cameras and offer decent customer support, from what I hear. I can't speak from experience, since I'm a Nikon user myself.
Maybe we should all be posting what product line we despise, along with the company? Some companies made excellent products of one variety (such as pro cameras, for example), but make mediocre products in another category (ink jet printers, for example). There's lots of companies that are excellent at producing certain things, but fail miserably at other things.
take care,
McLilith

Oh, I'm on an image line rant lately.........too long a story.....I type 75 wpm but I can't even begin with that one.
If it was just me......I wouldn't say anything. But if you just read the forums and pay attention to the attitude of the IL staff (elke in particular) you should see what I mean.

...it isn't as you said imo, in fact I think sometimes jmc actually shows signs of wit...
Eyeknow666 is unreasonably sore at them, but sometimes i see where they are coming from.

They seem very typical of Dutch guys in general.Hink wrote:Chase wrote:yes, both gol and jmc are f**kers, but i still think FL is a damn great peice of software.eyeknow666 wrote:Oh, I'm on an image line rant lately.........too long a story.....I type 75 wpm but I can't even begin with that one.

The same phenomenon would be apparent if they were New Yorkers or Australians.

truth be known they might be the best two staff members to begin with...without mentioning names there are a couple people who are beta testors that carry a staff tag that deserve respect as well...but alas those don't appear often...I believe it's unreasonable for a staff member to say rtfm...rtm is bad enough...politely suggesting and giving them help that nudges them toward the manual for future reference would be more productive..if only such a person existed...but some mods are on serious power trips which hurts everyone...Chase wrote:no he does, but still.
