The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I think there's a good movie waiting to be made, which spoofs all the classic spy movies. It should have one spy character which always speaks the blunt truth about what is true identity is, what his mission is, what his immediate plans are, etc. The idea being, it all sounds so prepostrous that no one ever believes him.

Contrast that, with another spy who is crafty as a fox, so stealthy as to be practically invisible, so trustworthy that you wonder if he's told himself what the mission is about.

Put those two in the same movie, working in either concert together, or competitively for the same end goal, and let the loudmouth klutz get the upper hand in almost every situation. We might let the stealthy professional type "win" in the end, but till then, he has to be outdone at almost every turn. I think there is some room for comedy here...

:)

Now, we can start discussing the music theory that goes into creating a good, classic spy movie soundtrack. :)

Interesting you should mention that. Right now I'm watching "Airplane," the premiere uber-spoof movie.

Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?

Didn't Bill Murray do a film where he played a really inept spy, but still managed to get some poontang at the end of it.

PS: Is poontang politically incorrect, should I just say c**t?

You're probably thinking of "The Man Who Knew Too Little". I believe he wasn't actually a spy in that movie, but rather someone who was mistaken for a spy.

My idea is a bit different, in that both of the principal spies are knowledgable and well trained, but one of them chucked all his training to the wind, and couldn't care less about protocol or keeping secrets, because no one ever believes such stuff anyway. To the chagrin of the proper spy, this fellow actually makes more progress throughout most of the movie, driving his proper and meticulous counterpart slowly insane. He also gets all the girls, and has all the fun. (That's were the 2nd part of your post ties in to this.)

Hey, there've been worse ideas for comedies. :)

Now, I could use some of that there music theory stuff. How do I write a classic spy movie soundtrack? (in 10 easy lessons or less)

That movie featured Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase as two bumbling spies sent on a mission because they were considered expendable, didn't it? I seem to remember that they went out with a bang, which should make Andrew content. :)

The soundtrack featured "Spies Like Us" by Paul McCartney. Near the end, it also made us of "Soulfinger", if I'm not mistaken.

It took people long enough to hijack the entire thread :x
Should have been done like ummmmmm.... 34 post's back :hihi: .

FaX, I've been working for days on a way to divert the thread into a serious, scholarly discussion of plate tectonics, baseball heroes of the 1970s, and possible future replacements for plasticine. Give it time, 'kay?

WAy I figure, if people are going to laugh at you anyway, you might as well tell jokes so you can pretend that's why. O_:-}

I'm not talking about some kind of auto-accompaniment program here, Hink. I'm imagining a plug-in where the user chooses the chord. Just that the whole palette is available to choose from.
My Fantom has something like this already - called "chord memory". Pick a chord from a humongous list of possibilities.. hit a note.. bang.. Bobs your uncle. :-o

Just now called up a C 7+9.. funky western civilization! Sounds weird played on a digiridoo.. a C dim9 worked a little better.. :hihi:

The most hilarious spy movie I ever saw.. if you want to call it a spy movie.. was called "Top Secret". I laughed my arse off and I think my neighbors tried to have me committed! :D

Great opening music "Skeet Surfing". :hihi:
