I'm recording certain noises onto a single audio track in Sonar 4 Producer. I want to be able to take that audio track and slice it up somehow amd save each sliced area to a seperate file without having to tediously move each cut part to a new track or something just as tedious as that. I'm totally lost when it comes to sampling programs more or less.

I'm running a Dual 3.40 Xeon System , 2 GB of DDR2 RAM , with Windows XP Pro. So go ahead and toss anything my way that will run on Sonar (VST , Rewire , DX)

your system is waaay more powerful than mine...for that reason alone I wont help you
(also, I have no clue as to go about it)

Well the only reason I could afford it was I bought it without a video card , monitor , mouse , keyboard , etc.. etc.. and took things out of my Dell 8400 and put in there. And I got it with a 30gb HD and replaced that with my 400GB one I have been using in my Dell. Anyways...

The program doesn't seem to want to do the job. The samples I'm recording are with a mic so the noise levels are kinda variable and Wav Knife doesnt quite get them right. Good program though , will be usefull for sample CDs and things of that nature.

I need something that I can set the start and end to each sample for perhaps and just have it save whats selected for each section from the 1 sourve wav file into 1 for each area selected for sampling.

I've tried Recycle and it seems excellent for slicing up loops. Very easy to use, too. Unfortunately I never really needed to slice up loops, so I don't own Recycle. (I'm not really a loop kinda guy, I guess, I usually make my own loops -- much more flexible that way)

Beat Quantizer, Creator, and Slicer http://www.beatcreator.com/English/frames.html something for every budget and they all do a fine job. If you want real hands on control acid can be good for this as well. It moves faster than doing it in sound forge. You can zoom in real close and loop certain sounds (one or as many as you like), then just render the looped portion. I do that all the time since it is more hands on than a beat slicer and the overall result is better except it takes much longer.

I got a chance to try out my friend's copy of Recycle earlier and it's doing the job perfectly for what I need it for. Thanks for all your input ! Not sure how much I could learn and grow without this community sometimes.
