Thanks Paul. I just hope the download link that is "only good for a few days" will last long enough using my dial up download speed.manytone wrote:Hi moreliamorelia wrote:Just out of curiosity, what time of day can I expect the dl link. Wow, I was just reading on your web site that you are working on a mandolin sample package!
I'll definitely be getting that one.. I love the mandolin and can never have too many samples of it..
Play it by ear

I'd love to see even a tiny snippit of a MIDI file myself.robertb wrote:Hey Greg, great job on the UBK set. Any possibility of passing on some midi files of different techniques realized with UBK?
The way you've translated bass playing to a virtual bass is astonishing! I'd have to guess that your REAL bass playing is equally amazing. You don't produce demos like that without a deep understanding of the instrument.
Good job!
Well, I'm off to play with this for awhile!

That's why I'm making some tutorials so that people can start to think like a bassist too. But really what it rounds down to is just using your ears. I watch a lot of bassist movies (Live At Bass Day 98, Jaco Pastorius: Modern Electric Bass, etc.), so over time I developed a sense of what sounds realistic and what does not in bass sequencing.Landphil wrote:I'd love to see even a tiny snippit of a MIDI file myself.robertb wrote:Hey Greg, great job on the UBK set. That doesn't go to say that I've learned everything about bass sequencing.
So the tutorials are just for people so they can make the most out of the UBK. It doesn't mean that you need to read the tutorials in order to use the UBK -- I don't want people to get the impression that they need to go through a training course to learn how to use the UBK.
But what these tutorials will show you is a few useful tricks at how to make your UBK bass tracks more believable.

Sounds great! Looking forward to them.
And if you're a gigging musician and feel up to it, let us know where you're playing. I'd enjoy seeing you play.
(That is, as long as you're not someone famous and anonymously doing this since you have nothing to do in your spare time and counting money has become tedious, in which case I'll say a quick hello and act like I'm not supposed to be there!)

Sorry i missed this...
Yes we do have plans for them and more but i can't say how soon they might make it to market.
I have an Ovation Acoustic / Electric on the go now, but we still need to find a nice Upright that comes with a proper Player to Sample.
Thanks for the interest. You will see more Basses from us as well as more Guitars.

Do you guys have an interest in sampling a 1965 acoustic-electric EKO bass? I have one that is practically mint except for the crackles in the varnish that are inevitable for something this old.manytone wrote:HiAKJ wrote:any plans for acoustic/upright and fretless bass?

They look like this:

They have 3 pickup positions (bridge, neck, n+b) and due to its acoustic nature, it could also be sampled with a microphone.
They are nice basses, very unique and perhaps something that might appeal to a boutique-seeking crowd.

Looks cool, Shane! Just curious...what's the tonal difference compared with the Hofner 500/1 ?Shane Sanders wrote:Do you guys have an interest in sampling a 1965 acoustic-electric EKO bass? ..... They look like this:

I just pmed you about this EKO Bass
You know what ... I have an old EKO Bass Pedal set i have sampled here too ... I was just working on the samples and will release some of them soon ... It is like the old Moog Foot Bass Pedals but this one was made by EKO.
I'll dig a pic up of it ... It is pretty cool vintage too.

Honestly, I don't know. I imagine they share some things in common. The EKO has a pleasant, round tone. It doesn't seem to have a muddiness that a lot of acoustic-electrics have. With tape-wound strings, it has a nice woody tone. With new rotosounds on, it can emulate a variety of electrics (but that's through a Bass Pod).Landphil wrote:Looks cool, Shane! Just sitting on the porch, it sounds great unplugged, though. I play it with a felt pick sometimes and just marvel at the way the feminine neck allows for really fast runs.

I am indeed a gigging musician (although I most always play keyboards at my gigs). I perform in the Bay Area, California.Landphil wrote:Gregjazz wrote:That's why I'm making some tutorials so that people can start to think like a bassist too.
