Hello friends :D

Recently I've bought Kontakt 2 and one thing I can't figure out so far is how to route samples to multiple Cubase Mixer outputs?
When I add Kontakt as VST Instrument it creates whole bunch of outputs in Cubase SX Mixer but I don't know how to route samples to them.

Example:
I created a drum kit and I want my kick drum to sound on 1st output, snare to sound on 3rd, hat on 5th on so on...

Can anyone please explain it to me or give a link to a similar discussed topic on those forums? :help:

You gotta do it with the Kontakt Mixer. You click the numbers at the top of the Mixer channels and assign them there in a drop-down menu. It's kind of a pain-in-the-ass.

as far as i know there is no mixer in Kontakt
the only section that looks like mixer is "Outputs" and there is no sighn of such controls.
Care to show me a screenshot?

Kontakt 2, right?

32 seperate outputs enable a flexible routing of the instrument sounds, allowing them to be mixed seperately in a sequencer or other external equipment. The convenient Group Management lets you route samples within a single instrument to different outputs, allowing, for example, the seperate handling of a drum kit.

The Output Mixer offers a helpful overview and features faders for all possible output configurations. Additionally, up to 4 insert effects or 4x4 aux effects can be used per output configuration, helpful if, for instance, multiple instruments are to be sent through the same module.

Press "F3" (or is it "F4"?). Better yet, check the manual - it was an important new feature.

bduffy,

So I see you made the move to K2 (I am a regular on the NI boards and have been following some of your stuff from time to time).

Have you updated to 2.0.2 yet? If so - any ideas on how to reduce or allow just a couple of K2 outputs to the host? I am using Nuendo 3 and even with 2.0.2 - I get like 32 outs in the mixer....I thought this was fixed...

Hi! No, actually, I haven't upgraded to K2! But I've tried it (and the latest demo) because I'm following it closely, waiting for a version that I think is worth the big upgrade price. As it is, it would be a nightmare for me to try to crossgrade my v1.5 projects to v2, and from what I could tell, I was not impressed with the browser/database, general stability and MIDI channel assignment. God, I just wish I could go back to 1.2!

AFAIK, none of the upgrades have dealt with the multiple outs yet. NI just keeps promising that it will be addressed in an upcoming update. Which translated means it will get less and less stable for a year, then it might work, but not for the Mac-people. :P
