This is incredibly cool, but one has to wonder where this kind of technology will end...

I literally was just playing with this 10 minutes before you posted. It's neat, but it's not realtime or anything. I was just talking to a friend about it and we figured the worst it could lead to is easier stalking...
"Oh so she has those bushes right outside of her back window, hmm..."
It could also make for easier getaways for the smarter criminals.
"Ok, rob bank, then hang a quick left and hide in park."
Now if we ever get realtime satellite images, that would be a can of worms I'd prefer to keep closed.

I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

I've spent hours on this programme, it really is great fun, and reminded me how bad my geographie is (but getting better).
I'm afraid we're not very close to having a real time version, at least not with the technologie we have for the moment.
Satelites that take such pictures are not geostationary ones, so they are only up there for a certain amount of time for a specific mission. After it's short trip it just burns up in the atmosphere.
That's why it costs so much money to just have a look in real time at someones back garden.

This is extremely cool. Back when it was Keyhole, it was shitty expensive, plus the only hi-rez was US cities and the Persian Gulf (go figure...), but now it's more useful AND free!
I travel a lot for a living, and it's really cool to be able to show my wife and kid where I've been! Really amazing! Probably my favourite program that doesn't deal with music

Tsk... Wrapping a java app in a platform-specific .exe ... Why not just provide it as an applet?topaz wrote: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: bean configBean not found within scope
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.
