Which app has a more fluent sequencing method, FL or EnergyXT. Midi is a very important part in my music making process and Ext is the closest one regarding midi. I just need to compare it to FL because FL is the only host I had tried.

What's golden to one, is garbage to another...

I guess what I am trying to say, is that there is no 'best' sequencer out there... Neither is there a 'best' approach to sequencing. Some people love the pattern-based approach of FL while others hate it...

The most appropriate thing for you to do would be to try demos and see which one has a work-flow that suits your needs... Unless, of course, you'd prefer to have others make those decisions for you.

If that's the case, I'd say CUBASE is what you need!!!

energyXT is the Progg to use

Perhaps you need some time to get used to the modular Environment, but it has a superior Piano Roll and a very good Communication with the developer

I have to admit, I love energyXT's playlist in terms of sequencing. You have midi clips which can be stretched, enlarged, ghosted and dragged around between tracks easily. You can also group sequences of audio and MIDI into folders and even work between different arrangements.

I have FLStudio as well and love using it as a drum sequencer, or for heavily pattern-based work. There are those that do long orchestral and ambient work in FL Studio and it's fine for that. However, if you use lots of different patterns the playlist can become quite crowded.

There is still no tempo automation or visual time signature support cues in eXT. It's gui is kinda 'locked' into 4/4.

But thorough use of the demos is the only way you're going to know for sure.

They are different beasts and are different to tame but you can always use EXT into FL and viceversa.
Besides. For the asking price and support Energy is a no-brainer.

Go buy it, support a great developer and Have fun with both of them (apps, not the developers

)

Is Cubase open to VST instruments - accept all kind - like FL? And How is the midi part of it??

P.S I have no objection on FL patterns method, but the way you move between the playlist and the patterns/step sequencer is very slow and not practical at all, Check Orion and you'll know what I mean

Meaning I depend heavily on Midi and not Audio files.

nonetheless its vst-support seems to be sub-standard...

How can it be considered slow

You work with the playlist in the background and that way you can work on tthe channels and add them as needed just use the keyboard shortcuts for even faster workflow.
Also. I love EXT, but the FL piano roll is by far the best one out there!!!
Can`t you tell I loooooove FL and EXT. I`m having a Menage`troi (or however you spell it) with them now

I couldonly honestly reccomend both

The reason i can do this is if you fancy working in FL mode you can load EXT into FL as a plugin.
If however you fancy working in EXT mode you can load FL as a plugin inside EXT.
This is a method i use all the time and i wish a more Hosts were available in this manner.
As far as i know these are the only two hosts (Not incluing chainers and such) that allow this capability.
I also use Tracktion1 (Bought 2 but sticking with 1 for now) as a hub for both these hosts if i need to record audio because the workflow in Tracktion for recording is so good.

Almost. I know Orion has the most Welcoming environment. Colors, size of buttons and windows. But the way of drawing volum events is a bit childish and doesn't look professional. I like to control the volum events with points, the way all sound editors have.

How do you control volum envelops in EXT, by the way?

FL or EnergyXT as sequencer?
