very pedantic (and it's not like it matters) but I hate hearing poor use of English in songs, two examples spring to mind -

Warren G - What's Next?. Possibly my fave cock up ever, he raps "what's next, what's next, what's N, X, E, T"...can't believe nobody noticed that before releasing the album

The Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be? Noel Gallagher sings "How does it feel like?" Surely that'd be "What does it feel like" or "How does it feel"..?

Any more?

I think that was meant to be a tribute to those african americans who say 'aks' (axe) instead of ask... eg. "I gotsta aks you a question..."

At least, that's what I always assumed he meant by that!

Post

 never thought of it like that.

All Saints "Never Ever" - "some questions that I want to know". Answers surely?

In the otherwise enjoyable "Live and Let Die", Paul McCartney blesses us with the prepositionally-challenged nugget:

"In this ever changing world in which we live in"

He once claimed he wrote songs while sitting on the toilet. I think that little phrase must prove his assertion. C'mon, Paul, you could have written "in which we're living" and still made it work... :?

I always heard that as "In this ever-changing world in which we're living." Never checked sheet music or lyric sheet to see if it was written broken.

My favorite lyric oddities are mostly mondegreens... and the wonderful, elusive pompetus of love.

i looked up dylan thomas. oh, poetry. it doesn't make for good lyrics (not much of an artsy poetry fan here). put "dylan" into google and see what ya get
