Hi guys,

First posting here, so be gentle.

I've got about four years' experience with computer music, had a couple of things published in the Computer Music readers demos, so I kind of know what I'm doing.

However, after dicking around using the incredible Endorphin compressor, I'm on the lookout for more presets. I'm one of these (lazy?) people who like to use a preset to get 90% of the way there, then tweak the other 10%.

I find the three that come with it (apart from the init) ain't enough, and the genius who programmed it has better things to do nowadays (cos he didn't respond to my email which is fair enough). I've also scoured (yes, scoured!) the Interweb thing, but drawn a blank.

I came across the settings that mimic one of the PSP VintageWarmer settings on this forum, but I'd love to know if there are others out there.

So, any takers? Has anyone got a luverly, full (ie ten) bank (ie fxb) of settings that work with acoustic guitar/vocal based material?

Hope you can help!

Cheers

Hmmm...I think you'll probably find that most people set compressors according to the material they're compressing. Presets are almost a redundant thing for effective compression. I used to use Endorphin alot but never used the same settings twice, and never saved them as presets precisely because I knew I'd never use the same one twice...and that goes for every other compressor I use. In fact I'd rather start from a blank patch than dial up a preset.

There are a few threads about compression with links to articles etc about compression. Check with a search...it might help to get you used to setting your own compression. Off the top of my head, I know Sound on Sound has an archive of articles including a couple about multiband compression and what all the different parameters mean and how you might change them according to different material.
