if i remember correctly jules goes on to say that those new apps are not much more than (and i probably misquote) "scribbles on the back of a fag packet" ... the bugs thing you KNOW im not going to try and defend ... its obviously NOT ideal in some cases that they havent YET been addressed ...

the implication (as obvious to me as your interpretation of the jules intgerview is to you) that T is no longer that important to jules since he has other more interesting stuff to work on ...

I just closed Samplitude 8 after demoing it for a few days (on and off). I really like it and could really get into it, but why did it had to be so expensive  I should have checked the price before demoing the thing, there's no way in hell I can justify spending that much on a sequencer

There's always something with software...

Logic 7
very, very happy...especially because I switched from a G4 400Mhz to a G5 2 x 2Ghz recently.. you can imagine, why I´m happy..

the only thing I´m missing is the driver for the uad-1 which isn´t released yet..

but I agree on what was posted before, Logic´s included plugin-package is huge and there are countless usefull and superb sounding synths, emulations and fx in there.

Samplitude is a euro a day on their rental programme, if you are upgrading from something else. It's only a little more otherwise (40 euro per month). This makes complete sense to anyone who expects to make money off it.

See the Samplitude rental docs and price list.

Sonar 4
Project 5 v.2
Live 4

Ideally, I'd like a cross between Sonar's comping and editing features and Live's "the music never has to stop" philosophy (with DP 4.6's pitch and beat detection/manipulation thrown in for good measure).

Has anyone used DP 4.6? It's features give me more Mac-envy than Logic...

Ya think that maybe it has something to do with the fact that Macs comprise only 2-3% of the whole home computer market?

I noticed that. I don't think there are any reviews of the newly included Logic Plugs for Logic 7 in the reviews section.
While I'm at it, why hasn’t anyone reviewed any of the Waves stuff either. At least these plugs are actually mentioned in the Effects section. However, next to nobody has written a review. Weird.
Hmmm, maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are outrageously expensive?

Good one!

The Mac was always a decent music-making platform, but I really think it's lost its edge in the last few years. There are just too many cool little freaky windows-only apps that do idiosyncratic things. Everyone needs to find their own way to make their sounds and, like it or not, Windows offer tools to fit every niche.

Personally I am not Micro$oft fan. Other than XP I have divested myself of all other products from them. For example OpenOffice.org is a great replacement for M$ Office. Python replaces crap like Visual Basic. I use Dia instead of Visio. Anyone who uses Outlook is just clued out. And so it goes.

I have true hatred for MS but I'll use Excel until you peel it from by dead cold fingers. I wish I knew how to make music with it. Life would be perfect then. (BTW, I hate math so Excel allows me to do all that crap without having to 'manually' add a thing.)
