on a serious note, amazing kid. one thing i wonder though, if he really likes those artists or if he says he likes them because it gets him attention and admiration from adults. i remember when i was a kid that was the best thing you could get

the kid or shane?
I wouldn't know about Shane's battery needs... If I were to be "set free in the mountains" I'd like the comfort of a good dildo up my ass. BTW, Sickle recommends Day-Glo lube from Walmart, prolly nice for pack bonding.

two words... CIRCUS ACT
I'm so sick of all these little kids who can play these amazing pieces and what not. I'm sorry, but a 6 year old has not been alive long enough to even understand what they're doing. I'd rather listen to a midi file of a Schubert or Brahms that listen to a six year old play it. It would have about the same feeling and experience. Music is not about notes and chords and whatnot, it's about people, life, experience, and emotion. When I listen to music I want to hear the performer, and what they can bring to the music, and a little kid who doesn't even know who he is yet is not going to bring much of anything to it.

actually the kids music is very emotional. I've seen specials on these prodigies - they tend to be very understanding and mature in all regions.o'malley wrote:two words... CIRCUS ACT

Hmmm. Tap dance prodigies might be called circus acts. This kid has put some serious "time" in on his instruments. While I do empathize with your assessment, I also have to step back and allow for the possibility that music passes through us - not because of us. Thus, this child could be like a vessel that points not to himself, but to an ocean of interconnecting expressions. Or not. He plays with more feeling than I do, whatever "feeling" is. My ears are mature and I could hear it. He hears something that I do not. YMMV.o'malley wrote:two words... CIRCUS ACT

I say its 50/50 talent/pushing by the parents.. I wonder how his compositional skills are, as the two arent a direct link...
The world needs great technical players though, so he will do fine.

I know many people who are great technically on their respective intruments, but aren't really that great at composing. The two are definitely very different.
And I just have to give a shout to vurt. Is it possible that 13775 posts is a typo??? Yikes.

Someday this kid will turn 21, and no one will care that he was a child prodigy. He'll be just another classical music dude playing concerts at community centers.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
