so what's the recommended version to use at this point?

Post

The GUI is working fine for me now under Sonar 4. UBK sounds great! None of the controls work, but it sounds better than any other SF player I have, so...

so what.

The concept of this plugin is great! However, I would recommend you avoid from cluttering it up with built in FX! The great thing about this plugin is its simplicity, there's no need for onboard FX imo.

Uh oh. I'm just nearly done with the latest version that has awesome onboard FX... :P

The nice thing, though, is that I'll be able to still keep the GUI small, since I'm having it so it doesn't display all the controls at once.

I myself like fx built into the vsti as it makes for a better all in one easy to use system (in terms of preset design etc) ...as long as the fx are good and reasonable on the cpu then i say do it .... It can only add to the sound!

Im using v2 in Tracktion 2, and everything is working fine, it sounds great, I love the gui, its a perfect size, straight forward and easy to use with the sliders.

My pianos sound great on this, I intend to try other instruments, but the trouble is, I load my Clavinova and then sit and play it for an hour :D

Vibrato would be nice for woodwinds, strings, etc, as I dont see one in the kvr data base.

This plugin gets saved on its very own disk

Thanks Gregjazz

That's pretty cool. The sound is much cleaner compared to sfz and FLStudio's soundfont player, although for some reason it sounds thinner than those other soundfont players. It's got a lot of potential, I think, so keep it up! :)

I like onboard FX. It makes it easier for me to create a patch exactly as I want it and pull it up later very easily. In this case, I would have to just put the name of the soundfont used in the patch name, and then I'm good. :-)

By the way, is there any way you can put up at least a simple web page for this VSTi, so that I can save it and come back and check the version or update easily? It would be much easier than hunting for, and then through this thread for the site link.

Thanks!!!

Ooh, that's a great idea for my newest version! And this time, realistic vibrato LFOs, with delay and all that useful stuff...

Right now the FX are working really well. It doesn't take very much GUI space, either, because you can switch between the different parameters for the different FX. I think in terms of the EQ I'm going to have 2 EQs, a pre-effects EQ and a post-effects EQ. Right now the effects order is unchangable (but the order is pretty traditional and sounds good), but hopefully in a future version I'll make the order adjustable.

A vibrato that wasn't based on a perfect and repeating wave form could be useful, though I usually use pitch bend for that.

And, yes, as someone above stated, this sounds better than sfz on some of my fonts. Others sound better on sfz. But if I need legatto then sound quality is less of an issue. I could never understand why such an important feature was left out of sfz.

Yes! A fellow pitch bend user! That's exactly what I do for vibrato, I never use the modulation wheel to handle it since it's too regular and never at the right speed.

How about if I draw my own vibrato waves and have the VSTi use that, though? :)

I don't know if anything would work. There is no way that I can see to get the speed of the vibrato to be right. Also, as a guitar player who uses vibrato a lot, I always vary the vibrato rate even on a single note.

I think vibrato may have to remain a performance tool as much as note choice is a performance choice.
