The demo songs had sold me. Are the bass sounds in the demo songs being processed? Any amp sim plugs would you guys recommend for UBK?

The bass sounds are going through some simple EQ to boost the bass frequencies and a little highs. I also put a tad of reverb on the bass. In the demo "More Love" I do have some chorus and delay on the sound, but not much. So the demos are relatively dry effects-wise. A little reverb adds a lot. I didn't feel the need to hide the UBK behind excessive effects. All the effects I used in the demo were the ones that came with Cakewalk.

The idea of the UBK is that it's sampled completely dry so you can then add whatever processing you desire. I haven't experimented with amp sims, but I imagine if you put it through SIR with some cabinet impulses it'd sound pretty cool. Maybe someone else has some good suggestions for amp sims.

Hi Greg,

I'm looking forward to the tutorials/midi examples too. I really appreciate the trouble you have taken with this project.

Amp Sims
It sounds great with the free cortex amp sim as well as Tube baby and a few of the others are good too.

A Real Nice one if you have some Dollars to spend is Izotope Trash.

Another hint dropped here on our new VSTI....
It will have an Amp Sim in it and UBK will load in it.

Thanks! I have a lot of passion about electric bass, I guess you could say. It's just about my favorite instrument ever (besides the Erhu, of course), and it's really addictive to play.

we still need to find a nice Upright that comes with a proper Player to Sample.

and that's the trick.......proper player to sample. I would imagine that upright/fretless has to be much more of a challenge since getting the proper "pitch" can be tidious.

Hi
Yes .... but not just pitch ... I want to capture the techniques / styles that a good player would have. I play Guitar and Bass myself ...but Upright is something i have never really spent time with. If i can get a good player then that makes the project alot more successful.

I love the philosophy you're applying to sampleset production. I think this is likely to make your samples much more successful.

I'm going to be looking very closely at what Manytone puts out in coming months. You might become my one-stop guitar shop.

sorry if I ask this, comparisons are always unpleasant

how do this library relate to Trilogy's electric basses?
does anybody have both products?

Just ordered the SF + WSND pack. This will be fun... I needed a good bass patch for this month's KVR contest. :)

Hi
Sorry i missed this...
Yes we do have plans for them and more but i can't say how soon they might make it to market.
I have an Ovation Acoustic / Electric on the go now, but we still need to find a nice Upright that comes with a proper Player to Sample.

Thanks for the interest. You will see more Basses from us as well as more Guitars.

I am looking forward to the release of these products (and, maybe, a bundle release)! Please, also do the upright bass also bowed. this is something really missing in the market and it will give you a competitive edge.

best, akj

No kidding. :)

Brian Bromberg is one of my favorite string bass players (as well as being a KILLER electric bass player and slapper).

I love his version of Teen Town.
