there was a great drought in good music and then one day in mid-late 90's my wife came home with the Dummy CD. She'd been in some old hippie turned goth bead store (don't ask) and they were playing Portishead and she asked them what's that music?
led to finding Sneaker Pimps and Massive Attack, but nobody creates quite the acid fog that Portishead does.

There wasn't really a bandwagon for Portishead in Montana in the early 90's when I started listening to them. I was one of very few people that even knew who they were.Andrew Vernon wrote:Yeah, I was too busy to jump on the bandwagon when you did.butter wrote:Did you just figure that one out?
I've heard that they are going to have a new album out in the near future. They were never really broken up apparently, just not releasing anything. From what i hear they just played a charity show with Massive Attack not too long ago.

Yeah, I only just dicovered them. I'd heard of them before, but I never really got into them until I heard a song on MTVDance the other night.

I dont believe you, MTV would never play music on their station.Andrew Vernon wrote:Wow! I was watching some comedian the other day and he put it like this:
shouldnt it be illegal or something for MTV to call themselves music television? I mean, what if you called New York Pizza Parlor and said "Yes I would like 2 large pepperoni pizzas" and they reply "Sorry we only sell yo-yos and coonskin caps call the furniture store if you want some pizza"
