Fruity Loops Latency problem, Help!

My problem: Certain plugins have cause latency; this means any sample going through an effect channel that has one of these plugins on will go out of sync with samples that are not going through this channel.
Is there anyway in Fruity Loops to compensate for the latency delay some plugins cause? If not what about a host such as cubase, can this do it and how? If cubase can then I would really consider changing host.

FLStudio doesn't have native PDC. What you could do, is see if the effect plugin tells you what the latency is (Voxengo plugins do this). Once you have the latency, you could use a freeware latency plugin in the other channels so that they are compensated.
A bit of a workaround, admittedly.
I'm sure Cubase has PDC. Though there are also cheaper alternatives, look into Tracktion, Orion etc. But try and see if it can be sorted out in FLStudio first by using some form of latency plugin. Also, maybe version FLS 6 will introduce something when it appears.

try Voxengo Sample Delay - u need to know the latency of the plugin for this - use Minihost to find out (there's an analyzerprogram included for this)

i guess there wont be any new version of FL before x-mas (2069
)

I use FLStudio, but have never encountered any problems with latency. Could you tell me the plugins you are using that cause latency?? I'd like to try and replicate your problem to see how it works and so I can avoid it in future and let you know.Johnny Cherry wrote:My problem: Certain plugins have cause latency; this means any sample going through an effect channel that has one of these plugins on will go out of sync with samples that are not going through this channel.

Ok, try Voxengo's Curve EQ, you can download a demo at their website
http://www.voxengo.com
Cheers for the replys I will try the plugins you have sugggested.

Can Minihost be run as a vst itself? If not how would I find the latency out, do you know of any other products that do this?verstaerker wrote:try Voxengo Sample Delay - u need to know the latency of the plugin for this - use Minihost to find out (there's an analyzerprogram included for this)

Thanx - I'll try out Curve EQ and let you know in a while.

I had that problem in fruity loops. I switched to asio drivers and it fixed it up good. You might want to look into a program like Tracktion. I use it too, and it seems much more stable.

Why would an EQ introduce latency? I've never had any problems with plugin latency in FL Studio and it is rock stable on my system.

don't ask why - just try it and u'll notice some latencyTeksonik wrote:Why would an EQ introduce latency? I've never had any problems with plugin latency in FL Studio and it is rock stable on my system.
u can also try every limiter - all have some latency
izotope Ozone has also latency
or any Convolution Reverb

sorry the program i ment is no longer included in the Minihost PackageJohnny Cherry wrote:Can Minihost be run as a vst itself? it's called VSt-Spy and can be downloaded here
http://tobybear.phreque.com/files/vstspy.zip
it's a standalone programm which scans ur VST folder and tells u the latency of all plugins (called initial delay here)

I still want to know why an EQ would need to introduce latency beyond a few samples. I have and use several limiters and EQ's and notice no perceptable latency. Convolution Reverbs I understand will have some latency but an EQ? What are your system specs?verstaerker wrote:don't ask why - just try it and u'll notice some latencyTeksonik wrote:Why would an EQ introduce latency? this has nothing to do with the system - it's the just the plugin - ask Aleksey from Voxengo why curve EQ has latency (3072 samples which is really noticable)

There is no need for that kind of latency on an EQ. All the EQ's I use scanned at 0 Initial Delay. The limiters are at 20,39 and 64 samples. The keyword being "noticeable" latency. Do the math, 20 samples at 44.1k is how much time? The reason I asked about your system is to find out if you have a dedicated DSP card which is when PDC becomes a real issue. So the original poster should edit the title of this thread to "Plug In Latency" and not Fruity Loops problem.
