actually we've been talking about the 'Rustin Man' album...Bunnyboy wrote:
I thought barrow did the beats, pressed them onto acetate and them sampled them? I know that Andy Smith was the scratching guy, but Barrow was definately the beats man, as he was the one that asked Beth Gibbons to join him in making music. They then recruited Adrian Utley to help produce and play guitar and Andy Smith joined in somewhere

mmm sounds of the satellites is a great album, but the two bands are very very differnt in moods and styles
wasnt rob ellis the drummer for laiker and margaret fielder and guy fixen in moonshake?
Beth Gibbons partner on her solo album was "Rustin Man" Paul Webb, he played bass in one of my favourite 80's bands: TALK TALK!![]()
And the guy besides Margaret Fiedler in Moonshake was Callahan, former member of the indie band THE WOLFHOUNDS.![]()
Still need to get a copy of "Spirt of Eden". I take it your a fan of the Blue Nile as well"Walk across the rooftops" what a record!!
TALK TALK's Spirit Of Eden & Laughing Stock are in my personal top ten albums of the 80's, they are just great, even today, nearly 25 years later!!
And yes, THE BLUE NILE also is one of the best 80's bands, sadly almost forgotten...

- 'new grass' is such a wonderful tune and a real earcatcher but did you ever try to whistle the main guitar-melody?
- I never managed to hear the album end - either I'm asleep until then or I suddenly realize 'damned - it's over and I missed the last note again!'
(however I never tried to 'catch' the end - I somehow think that would kill part of the magic...)
