lamb, my second trip hop love  i can't get enough of them.

(although i think their first and second albums are far better than the rest)

Post

well, i love their latest album, imo their best, but what sound was weaker than the first 2, the 4th is different, less raw, less trippy, more pop, but fantastic still :)

For me Lamb, Sneaker Pimps, Massive Attack, Morcheeba, etc. are all huge disappointments compared to Portishead.

Broadcast too, are a good group.

i never undterstood the morcheeba hype, and the sneaker pimps started to be good when they kicked that female singer...

so, i do not like ALL the typical trip hop milestones ;)

and yes, portishead remain my favourite, and it's not only because of beth gibbons, out of season was great, but it certainly did not reach the portishead albums....

i'm posting too much in this thread :hihi:

Hey triphop heads, drop more names :) I haven't followed things actively, but haven't really found anything labeled as triphop to be even in the same ballpark as Massive Attack and Portishead... so any suggestions are welcome :)

Have to check out Lamb, I've heard something from the a long time ago, but that track didn't strike me as triphop...

Morcheeba and Sneaker Pimps, I couldn't call them triphop even if I tried =) Though I dig them both, have all the albums from both.

One thing to check out is Thalamus here on KVR - great stuff, really spinetingling stuff - Simply as your rivers flow and Coming home are on my top 5 triphop tracks ever list :)

i already mentioned daughter darling (sweet stuff) and jay jay johanson (one gets used to the voice, i actually like it, but it took some time).

also check out kristin mainhart (www.khromozomes.com).

if you can live with way overe the top "sexy" lyrics, and way over the top music as well, check the lovage album, music to make love to your old lady by, it's fun, but realkly nothing to take serious :D

well, no one mentioned tricky yet, his stuff is of mixed quality, but his latest album, vulnerable, surely contains some gems, and his debut is great all the way :)

mandalay are nice as well, not nearly as dark as most trippy stuff, but still nice, in a friendly way (mandalay are actually history, but the singer recently released a solo album, i have to check that out).

hooverphonic made some nice stuff as well, and quite some shite, still worth chzecking out, and may it be just because "everytime we live together we die a bit more" ist a fantastic song ;)

laika of course, mentioned here as well, but to refresh your memory ;)

if you like sneaker pimps check out I AM X, a synthpoppy solo album of the (male) singer, rather dark, definately sexy ;)

bang gang makes some kind of "accoustic trip hop", they have a side-project called lady&bird, nice as well.

and the well known biomechanoid (well known in places like kvr at least) has a side project called ammonite, top stuff, you can find it on magnatune, magnatune has quite some nice stuff, check out artemis as well.

and check out kvr, jens and thalamus made fantastic songs :)

btw, jens, i've had some problems with y mp3 drive and lost some of your songs, i'd REALLY appreciate it, if you could post a list of, well, all your availabe songe, when you find the time, zone x as well, i can't find the fork anymore, and well, one never knows what i have missed ;)

well, there is more, let me think about it, and forgive my english, i'm rather tired ;)

 :-D

sure - no problem - but be warned: it's actually a long long list - I posted so many tracks during those two years since I registered here - and just as a starter here's a song I never posted on kvr before:
everything shines :)
