are you saying you're not ugly enough to take on Exxon ;)

Just use this link to kick Exxon's ass:
http://www.exxposeexxon.org/
if people would just boycott exxon/mobile it would do so much good...I wont buy either, but I don't mind using generic, with the prices it isn't hard to not buy exxon/mobile....:hihi:

Like food coloring, which has been used in food and beverages since like, what, the 19th century? Come to think of it, processed sugar was designed to replace honey. What about ice cream? A lot of commercial ice cream uses gums as a substitute for more expensive cream. I just hate the words "natural" and "artificial" as applied to foods. Twinkies are loaded in preservatives, yet some of those preservatives have been shown to be great antioxidants. Broccoli, on the other hand, has natural pesticides in it--natural as in the plant produces it naturally, even organically grown broccoli--that have been shown to increase the chance of certain cancers. As someone also pointed out, most of us also regularly use things like aspirin and ibuprofen without thinking about it, yet these are artificial in that they are man made, not naturally occurring substances.

I'd shy away from natural things like saturated fats before I started worrying about Splenda.

And anyway, you forgot aspartame (probably one of the most extensively and continuously studied food additives of all time), which has been accused of causing everything from blindness to Republicans winning American elections.

Here are some natural foods that should be banned because they can kill pepople who are allergic to them:

Peanuts
Peaches
Shell food
Tree Nuts of all kinds
Celery

. . . come to think of it, almost all foods people are allergic to can cause death, especially if eaten just before exercising. So all foods should be banned, along with exercise, which is good 'cause if you're not eating you won't have the energy to exercise anyway. :hihi:

speaking of sugar...a little off topic...and way overboard  http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&c ... VB/2823613

I've bought gasoline from an Exxon station exactly once since the Exxon Valdez oil spill disaster -- I was in the middle of nowhere and running on fumes. So I got enough to make it to the next station. :-p

One small adjustment -- aspirin is the refined form of a naturally occurring substance, acetylsalicyclic acid, extracted from the bark (and vascular cambium? not sure) of the willow tree. An old folk remedy that turned out to be entirely real. Without aspirin I wouldn't be here now. :-)

Please emdot_ambient, just leave me alone. I don't have time to argue over each and every single aspect of every word I write.

You eat what you want to eat, and I'll eat what I want to eat. That should be fair enough.

I'll not argue any more over semantics, or over what foods a person should ingest. I stated what my personal preferences are, and you are perfectly free to have your own. If you want to debate food issues, find a food debating forum somewhere. :)

take care,
McLilith
