I've asked this question some time ago, but the thread has since been deleted, and having moved computers I've lost my internet bookmarks. Could you guys help create a list of all labels that release unusual / experimental / electronic music?
Off the top of my head:
Warp
Phthalocyanine
Planet-Mu
Six Records
Shurhit
Mousike Lab
Musork
Monotonik

Or, you can just pick up an issue of Grooves. That covers just about everthing in the indie/experimental electronic scene.

Your head stores things in alphabetical order. Like a list that you can copy and paste from.

VHF
Susan Lawley
Alien8
tUmUlt
Mego
Drone Records
Soleilmoon
Time Stereo
Antifrost
Trente Oiseaux
Relapse
Birdman
Durtro
Beta Lactam
Kranky
Constellation
etc.....
There are literally thousands. I would suggest signing up to some new release newsletters.
Good ones I'm on are:
http://www.aquariusrecords.org/
http://www.soleilmoon.com/
http://www.vitalweekly.net/
Maybe scan through some of the labels listed on http://www.epitonic.com/ .
And check out the discogs of experimental acts that you know of. They usually have releases and many, many small labels.

I didn't think of them in that order, just typed them that way - it'd be cool if it was just that easy though... I've got an address book at home with about 400 or so independent labels, though many are now defunct.chagzuki wrote:![]()

BTW, since most small experimental labels thrive on networking, most label sites will have links to many others. You'll probably find all kinds of stuff you never knew existed - still happens to me almost every day.
