[EDIT]to make my question clear: why do you point at that? is it another attempt at agitating KVR against the DoA piracy paradise (whatever that is supposed to be)?

well...so what do you think about that?
personally, Im not sure how I feel about it. I think on one hand perhaps markus (refx) could have tried a more tactful approach ...but on the other hand Ive seen first hand the kinda things (some) people say out in the open on DOA so I understand why he may have gotten upset and want to say something like that.

yeah that's true, i doubt it will change anything anyway. instead of trying to threaten the folks over there, he should have brought points that make people think about the case.

ya...I was just surprised to see (1) a dev step forward like that and (2) get that kind of reaction.
The mods there seem like nice enough guys....Its probably better for everyone if they step in more often. Its a pretty young crowd there right? Kinda like future producers but DnB realted I think.

soulkraka ... thanx for the interesting read.
I was surprised so many ppl hadn't heard of Vanguard, or thought it sucked.
Haven't they heard of Tarnce

Yes, compared to the average age here (estimated about 45) they are embryossoulkraka wrote:Kinda like future producers but DnB realted I think.
And I doubt Vanguard is well-known outside of KVR...but i may be wrong

hehe...well maybe we should do the same thing around here once in a while...lets "roast" some devs and tell 'em to f**k off. that'll keep them in their place. LOL
errr...wait..we did that recently with william k right?

DOA is probably a better place to say that sort of thing.
One of the good things about KvR is that part of our member mix is dev members.
Broadly speaking, devs like us and we like devs. Better for all concerned

A lot of them seem younger than they really are because they're idiots.soulkraka wrote:ya...I was just surprised to see (1) a dev step forward like that and (2) get that kind of reaction.

If you have posted at DOA for any period of time the silent piracy is pretty obvious.
If he started a thread simply talking about vangaurd (and of coarse hiding his refx status), people there would talk about it and it would be eaasier to pick up on. One guy there said 98/100 talk of vangaurd is negative? Generally true, as opposed to here where its closer to 2/100. If you pay for software, you will give it a hell of a lot more of a chance. If you pirate all the top synths you compare them to eachother and throw out the ones that dont automatically pump out tarnce leads, or in this case with DOA, "reeses", which the fucktards there call it, you simply wont be able to appriciate a synth like vangaurd (not that i own it, but the demo sounds dman nice!).
DOA is just a shitty place.

maybe so but one thing that DOA does have going for it is the fact that they talk about sound design a lot.Chase wrote:

Im glad we recently got a "production techniques" forum here on KVR. I just wish it was a bit more active.

Ooops...I think I already did with Markus over on the current aliasing thread ...hehe...well maybe we should do the same thing around here once in a while...lets "roast" some devs and tell 'em to f**k off. that'll keep them in their place. LOL
Weeellll...actually I told Markus to not f**k off, which is a semantic difference.
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 8&start=30
I only read the first page of that DOA thread...they actually sounded OK considering Markus waded in with his usual amount of diplomacy. I wouldn't have credited D'n'B heads with as much courtesy as Markus initially received. What would we have responded with if some unknown developer waded in to KvR with an accusation of the place being riddled with warez users? (and of course some do use the site, as I'm sure they do at DOA). Nowhere can have 100% angels as forum users.
Nobody there admitted to using Vanguard for D'n'B...that struck me as odd - I would have thought it'd be right up their street for some of the thicker D'n'B sweeps and pads and basses. I wonder what they do use, out of curiosity?
