timestretching is vastly improved........rivals flstudio now.

LOVE the from disc/desktop.......which you couldn't do on pc..............

Anyone know of why I can't do like a song wav (from cd)?

most other programs allow it..........was wondering what I"m doing wrong..........

Post

I'm in two minds, as I use Logic Pro and Protools on my current Mac (powerbook g4, 1.5ghz, 1gb ram, which I have loads of plugins for. Then my PC, which again I have plugins for and I use Sonar (which is great for Midi) and SX3.

The problem at the moment as for BFD is Logic and the stupid limitation (16 output only issue), which isn't gonna help anyone when 1.5/ultra comes out with 34 outputs, but I love Mac's.

What to do?

If I can get into DP4.6 and Ableton Live 5, then I guess I'll got the Mac route.

:-D

So true :) .

When I downloaded Live 5 beta 1 the first thing I set to work on was testing out the freeze functionality (which is great). But in the last 2-3 weeks I've not touched it... not needed to!

I did the good-old Ambience test and was astonished to find that Live 5 CPU consumption is less than half that of, erm, my other host. However they did it, who can tell

thats great eyeknow666!
Im gonna go get DL the beta right now :)
Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good

I don't get excited much, but this is really turning out to be a gem. Live has always been one of those products that I respect, but hasn't grabbed me in.

4 was close.......but not for 400 bucks......

Now that it will be less (live "ick" lite to full) for 250......that seems like a good jump.

I have not had one crash......that's gotta be a good sign for a beta.

So, if you haven't test drove(?) it yet.......give it a shot.......

Reallllllly??? :o
There's nothing more seductive than a pretty and FAST hostess....You're testing my monogamous vow with my current hostess you shameless harlet, Ableton!

I was going to make my 'other' host my laptop host since my lappy is old and tired, but L5 actually runs more efficiently and doesn't limit me as much. While my other host lost performance with it's last major update, Live has gone the other direction. Also, Live supports AU and VST, where my other host is VST only.

I've had pm disabled for awhile, try this

do you have dsl? if so go to the site and download the version 4 manual.....this has some visuals that will help in what I'm saying.

Do bfd groups to start and get your feet wet.

Open 3 additional audio tracks

In view, make sure I/O is clicked

in the clip view, you should now see a variety of in and out stuff as well as the sends and all

Here's what threw me at first.......don't do anything with the midi track other than rename it

check "in" on the audio channels you want to use, should turn orange

Now you can selct that midi in (whatever you named it) and below it you can now select room/pzm/overhead........with the midi channel doing the dry stuff

Sounds weird hun? Once you get used to it though.....it's really cool.

Another thing about live is that you can just keep it running and add/subtract stuff as you want switching back and forth between the clip and arranger view.

hope that helps............

I must be missing something with this public beta as I keep getting asked to enter an unlock code and cannot seem to find anywhere to obtain the code from on Ableton's site...

I have to say that this is hardly the way to try and tempt me into buying the program when you have to arse around for a beta version, especially when it proceeds to rescan my entire vst directory again when I restart the app...

Post

the code is given on the site.........

http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=l ... r&sub=beta

It's in red........ya can't miss it......... :D

Oh.....and just copy it whole........live automatically pastes it alla NI.........

I feel so shallow and superficial, but can you change the colour schemes in Live? At least some of the dreary bg tones?

I'm worried that the default colours would drive me to writing more dark, depraved, rhythmically rigid industrial noisescapes with a twist of lime.
