Give us a bit of time here guys...
We want to have tutorials and the midis, and have it all up on the website.
It should not be too long before the first stuff goes up. But it will take at least a week or 2 to get it all sorted nicely i think.

Good things take time :-) It will be worth it.

Thanks Paul, I am patiently waiting...

I've actually finished two tutorials. One is about some general tips and tricks and the other covers basic slapping using the perpendicular slap soundset.

Cool. I'm working on a piece with a slap bass in it. Would be very interested in reading this before I go much further.

I can replace that soundfont I was using with the UBK.

Hi Caleb and all
I am sure some of you have read this but for those that have not...
In the UBK manual we describe the slap set and a bit about the way to use it. So untill we publish these tutorials, reading it may help a few of you get better aquanted with the sets if you need. (no one reads the manual ...i know ;-) )
I quote some of it:

In the Parallel Slap soundset there are three main key zones: one for thumb down, one for thumb up, and one for pluck. In slap bass lines these are commonly used in sequence. To play fast triplets then, you would go thumb down, thumb up, pluck, and over and over. These wide key zones are all kept in the same instrument (and are not split over several different soundsets) because this arrangement is easier to sequence with. Rather than skipping around with multiple tracks for the different articulations, you can have it all in the same track.
end quote

The tutorials will expand further on this approach.

But for you guys that are all playing ..... I know you didn't all read Simons great manual yet.... so thats a start before the tutorials :-)

Hope you all are enjoying ManyStation and UBK

Another hint dropped here on our new VSTI....

Actually I haven't even got around to playing with the UBK soundset at this stage - nevermind reading the manual.

But as I'm working on a song with a slap bass in it - my "eyes" pricked up when I read Greg's post. Good to know you've gone to the trouble in the manual as well. Will have a look when I get a chance.

Thanks; I just managed to get my copy home and try it. It looks like it could take some learning, since I don't play guitar OR bass, but now I don't have to worry about my samples constraining me to sound like a MIDI to anyone who knows more about bass than I do.

If it sounds fake now, it's my fault. One more instrument to cross off the list...

finally got it. just a question: I got the sf2 and the manytone version (the later just to be on the save side). it is double in size: how come? does it use more samples?

Hi AkJ
As i understand from William ....
The wusik engine runs everthing in 32 bit so as to improve cpu usage and others issues that arise from running 16 bit in 32 bit engines. Therefore the format takes more space.
The samples and Sets are exactly the same ... The ManyStation version just has the bonus Presets and further cool mappings in those presets.

I'm really satisfied with the UBKit :)

Just finished my second tune in two days (both using UBK, both in the Café right now), nothing extraordinary, but it just works great. I've needed a good sampled electric for some time and this just fits perfect, with the right FX you can get wicked sounds from it. I'm very satisfied with how I got it to sound in "Get Up (Spread the Love)", and that's without any advanced programming whatsoever, in fact just played live on a keyboard 8).

Hey Programentalist

These are fantastic tracks. I love it when stuff falls together quickly like that ...
Those are always the best ones!

For those that want to hear some UBK in the customers hands :-) Programentalists post is here:

Whoa, totally missed your reply here.

Thanks :D

There'll be more I'm pretty sure, and I'll probably be using the Basskit in everything but purely electronic or alternative songs.
