Hey all,

I've tried the Live5 demo and been blown away by it so I'm extremely tempted to buy it. I live in the UK but I'm off on holiday to America in a few weeks. If I buy it over there, do you think I'll be allowed to register it when I get back home? Will the license key be, say, America only?

I've often wondered this when buying from the marketplace section here at KvR too..

First I think you are confusing the Beta with the Demo. Live 5 is still undergoing Beta testing and probably won't be released for a little while yet.

Second, I don't think there should be any problem with the license key. I have no idea why you think your key should be legal in America only, it's a German company anyway from what I gather.

Great, thanks!

Rumours are that Live5 will be out (final version) in just over a week as there are no major problems with the beta.

:)

Thanks for your help!

Really? Cool I hadn't heard that.

Yeah - the latest Ableton newsletter states that for one week only you can buy Operator bundled with the Live 5 upgrade for a reduced price.

The offer ends on 31 July, implying the release date is 24 July.

Thinking back to when I bought Live 2, it was a case of installing the software from the CDROM and then (within 10 days) registering online (a simple case of clicking YES and letting the software sort it's own registration out online, I believe.)

I don't think this has changed, although I personally I have always done the download upgrade since then. I will possibly go for the box this time...

Yes, they are based in Berlin.
