Hey Again!! Linear Phase EQ's are better suited for maintaining overall sound integrity during the EQ process because 'EQ alters phase'. My understanding of "phase" comes from the temporal definition of the term, meaning, the kind that can cause two sine waves to create a trough or a crest depending on an offset.

What is the other definition of phase?...like the kind that applies to EQ.

It's the same phase - every "frequency band", of semi-infinite smallidity, has its own phase, and an EQ, just like any other filter, alters the phase of each band when it alters its volume.
