I use mp3 all the time in my songs.Buckskin wrote:You wouldn't want mp3 samples anyway. Mp3's add silence to the beginning of the sample. It would mess up the timing of a song pretty noticeably.easymode wrote: I guess it wont load mp3 though (but i think arguru talked of ogg)
It does accept ogg vorbis though which is a better compression format than mp3.
Not for single shot drums or bass etc. But for pads, or long noise fx...
I use the trim knob so the silence its not a problem.
I also use mp3 loops in slicer and it works flawlessly.
It allows me to have very compact song files, amazing.
But ogg is even better, yes !

Surely the sound quality of wav samples is worth the size?

Certainly not.DavenH wrote:Surely the sound quality of wav samples is worth the size?
You need wave for accurate drum samples i.e.
But when i want, say, a kind of intro fx (like a long filter open sweep, mixed with some white noise etc), theres no point of using wav. Noone can hear the difference.
Of course im talking hi quality mp3 here (say 224 at least).
Dont be f**king purists.

Also, I think too much people here behave that way "dont use mp3 or it will sound crap" "dont use an audigy or it will sound crap" etc...
Well I use both and my tracks sound good.
(according to peoples who are in the business)

well i mean you can take a low-fi sample and drench it in effects n stuff and no one would care, but i still wouldnt ever use an mp3.
P.S. what "peoples in the business"?
