it pales in comparasion to what black folks have concieved over the last fifty plus years.
Without them I dont think any white folks would have learned to dance past square dancing. Talk about 2 left feet lol.
Now with people like eminem, justin timberlake,beastie boys cristeen aguilria, kid rock ect... cant even claim the right to be innovators when all they have done is copy what black people have been doing naturally for years however most black ppl dont get paid for it and soon as you get 1 white person that can clap his hands in sync hes a frigging star.

well, the ambient-syndrome is a rather white genre, and so is a lot of electronica, so kvr is kind of white...
but well, who cares?
i have to admit, a lot of music i listen to may have been invented by black people, but i usually prefer "white intrepretations" of it, it surely HAS something to do with the race/cultur/skincolor/bla, but at the same time it has nothing to do with racismn. (i just say that, because your posting has that "you are all racists" flavour, maybe it#s not what you wanted to archieve, but it reads like it
)

I don't really get your point. At first you seem to be implying that black people are the ones who invent all the major new styles. Most of them, yeah(not all of them, though)... It's a really stupid point to make, TBH, although it's true...
...but then you get into innovation, which has no connection to your first point whatsoever. If you mean genres are getting boring, yes, they are, there's pretty much nothing out there that hasn't really been done before. I think it's because we're paying too much attention to production nowadays, and not enough on the music but... but... But I don't think I'm qualified to join this debate, me being WHITE and all...
...

...I feel left out!!! See what you've done?!

I'm generally the opposite....perhaps closer to 50/50 though because of all the electronic music I like.luCiPHer wrote: i have to admit, a lot of music i listen to may have been invented by black people, but i usually prefer "white intrepretations" of it
Are you referring to my original post?luCiPHer wrote: ...it surely HAS something to do with the race/cultur/skincolor/bla, but at the same time it has nothing to do with racismn. Im actually happy you feel that way...because my experience has been that a lot of people simply refuse to acknowledge this. Im glad that in your "part of the world" this has become common knowledge and is akin to me starting a thread saying 2+2=4.Katanaman wrote:I don't really get your point. better go ahead and read it again then.Katanaman wrote:

Indeed, the vast majority of (if not all) pop musics have been influenced by/are direct descendants of black musics, but there is plenty of music that white/European folk can call their own if you're willing to dig.luCiPHer wrote:well, the ambient-syndrome is a rather white genre, and so is a lot of electronica, so kvr is kind of white...
I currently study Sound Art at uni, and I remember thinking to myself "every person here is going to be a heterosexual white male in his early 20s" as I walked to my first class, despite the fact that my university has more international students thsn any other in the UK. To my surprise, there was one (white) girl and a black guy. It turned out the black guy had the wrong room, and the girl dropped out at the end of the first semester. Very depressing.

All of these examples are also just big name people and none of them are innovators of any kind. To imply that a person's RACE is responsible for innovation is ignorant. It has nothing to do with the color of someone's skin. Innovation is done by a person (1) and not by his entire ethnic heritage. By that rationale all of the work and the studies that have been done in the last fifty years to dismantle racism and racial stereotyping should just be scrapped and we can go back to the good ol' days of segregated everything and racial inequality.Stairsteps wrote:Black has everything to do with it seamonkey, thats why youre missing the point. People are people. It doens't matter what color you are. Your artistic expression is a direct result of your individual experiences, whatever they may be.
We can discuss the historical significance of racial attitudes in shaping individuals.
Also, to state that, " Without them I dont think any white folks would have learned to dance past square dancing. Talk about 2 left feet lol." is both innacurate, racist, and largely offensive.
A person's color does not soley dictate their actions.
