The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

C'mon - if you run them through the Marshall like Jon Lord does they can sound fantastic in rock. Have a listen to Machine Head sometime.

;-)

here is a half done instrumental called "the castle of lord blackmoore"...what you hear is the first half, which is a gi-tar knight walking a path to the drawbridge of a castle....as it opens (the chains) the organ inside gets louder and louder...the last half will be a free for all as it should be...;)

Philistine! :x :tantrum: :x

Go listen to some Deep Purple, or some old Beggar's Opera. What rock needs today is more organ!

Just downloaded "The Castle of Lord Blackmoore", and I love it! I can't wait for the "free for all"...

Jon Lord really took the Hammond somewhere different.
The organ sound for the intro of the riff in Space Trucking is amazingling heavy. The organ solo in Highway Star has a great tone too - very similar timbre to the guitar solo.

actually I'll bet you'll find I'm not alone in saying that I learned a lot of lead guitar by playing John Lord's Hammond solos on guitar....;)

Chase chase chase :x, Hammonds, or shit even Vox or farfisas ABSOLUTELY EFFING KICK ASS. Now, granted, there are situations that they just dont work, and they must be used properly, but they absolutely are the best ever. the hammond was the first pad machine.

I dont think there is a better instrument ever made to create eerie moods. Play a few diminished chords on a hammond, and you can see the ghost of vincent price..

Without organs in rock, the only fossils would be skeletal ones. (In fact, I consider bones to be organs too. [Not BONES, bones.]) So neener neener neener.

Q: What do you call badly played tonewheel organ music?

A: Hammond cheeze.
