sorry if this topic has been raised before, but can anyone recommend some good sample libraries for electric guitar? I am looking for clean/dry, single note samples from every position on the fret board. any recommendations?
also, has anyone ever attempted to incorporate the electric guitar samples into MusicLab's RealGuitar by changing the sample names and overwriting them?
thanks in advance!

We have some fantastic Guitars sets in there.
You can see the list on our website that tells you every sample in the set
Also you can hear a bit of them there also.
Special Price on now too.
Guaranteed you will be happy with these Guitars and Basses!

You might also want to check out the Giga Clean Electric Guitars library from Vintaudio. It's four multi-sampled guitars in GigaStudio, HALion, Kontakt and EXS format. There are some mp3 demos at the website:
www.vintaudio.com/GCEG%20Demos.htm
If you really want to splash out, the Rolls Royce of guitar sample libraries atm is probably the LPC from Prominy. The full library (60 GB
) is $599, if you only want the clean guitar it's $349. Expensive, but the demos are very impressive. GigaStudio format only.

Manystation is the mutts nuts of the guitar - thats a fact, don't forget to get the Ultimate Bass Kit add on by the same guy that brought you the Ulitmate Guitar Kit.
Manystation is also backed by the recording studio ManyTone (they done lots of kits for LinPlug etc) but also guitar is something else they are good at.
Indded ManyStation is worth the entry for the guitars alone imo nice little touches in it to bring a sense of Realism to playing.
There are other sounds in there too, but guitar is a major factor.
Best regards,

Im considering producing a range of guitar samples. At the moment I have the following to work with:
- Gibson Les Paul Standard
- US Fender Strat (reissue 1962)
- Marshall Bluesbreaker combo (reissue)
- Avalon U5 DI
- Apogee Micpres
First I will produce a set of clean DI samples for the Gibson. This is wonderful guitar I love it! I will experiment with various programming protocols: as I long time guitarist myself I have a couple of novel ideas up my sleeve
I will most likely give away cutdown versions of these libraries for free on my Audioshots site (should be up shortly). Keep ya posted!
PS. I have access to a LARGE collection of rare and vintage guitars. If anyone has any suggestions of a guitar or guitar / amp combo I'd love to hear it!

Got any Hagströms in there? There's a definite lack of them in the sampling world.tee boy wrote:I have access to a LARGE collection of rare and vintage guitars. If anyone has any suggestions of a guitar or guitar / amp combo I'd love to hear it!

I'll level with you, off the top of my head I have no clue. My uncle owns a music instrument shop that specialises in rare and vintage instruments. They have all kinds of weird stuff, including an original Gibson hard guitar!
I suddenly thought the other day, I have a constantly changing collection of instruments here, some of which are one of a kind. I should sample that shit!!!
Sometimes are slower than others, but there is usually a good range of interesting instruments along side the more typical stuff. If anyone has suggestions (like Yossarian), I will take note and see what I can do.
For starters it will be the Strat and Gibson, DI and through the amp. I hope what will set these libraries apart will be the unique sampling protocol, which is not only efficient but will also result in extremely nature sounding play.
We will see. Like I said, the first will most likely be a freebie.

If you're looking for distorted tones, I recommend putting the Ultimate Guitar Kit through Green Machine II and Sonitus reverb. Glaceverb would probably work, too.

For distorted, I highly recommend Lyrical Distortion 1.

I have Vintaudio and I still think it is the best library available now. I still want something better because it has no choking samples. A PM E-guitar VSTI with the precise exact timbre of a sampled E-guitar is what we really need.

Sampling the Strat in the between positions (center+neck, center+bridge) would fill a void in the market. The most distinctive guitar sound and no one samples it.tee boy wrote:Im considering producing a range of guitar samples. At the moment I have the following to work with:

Depends a lot on the type of coils – some strats just buzz too much in certain positions

I have quite a few electric guitar sample sets, and always look for more.
I'd like key triggered trills and similar guitarry ornaments, plus vibrato.
I'd also like to key trigger from playing mid neck solo to playing on a top E string.
These are the sort of things that will make guitar playing sound more real.
Multivelocity layering, as in VintAudio's Guitars, only works so far.
Key triggering a pearly twang offers a lot more options for a realistic playing sound than simpke velocity changes.
In the same vein, I'd love some DADGAD too on a big acoustic ... like a big Guild or Gibson Hummingbird.
Open tuning resonances would sound like the dog's bollocks.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you (not being a guitarist myself) but the Vintaudio guitars have key-switched neck positions in addition to mutes, hammer-ons and swells.kevvvvv wrote: I'd also like to key trigger from playing mid neck solo to playing on a top E string.
