Distorted guitars should be a very tough source for audio to MIDI conversion.
Also, you just can't take away the overdrive. In case you apply some filtering, it might indeed sound less driven, but it'll get all muddy as you'd have to apply a lowpass around 3-4 kHz, which is where most overdriven guitar sounds are cutting through.

And yes, I'll gladly accept to be proven wrong.

Allright, I'll post a highly distorted guitar clip and then we'll see how you lower distortion without making it all muddy.
