Kevvvvvv, have you ever tried/considered replacing the samples in RealGuitar with an electric guitar sample set and renaming them so they match.
i understand this would be mind numbingly tedious. just curious if anyone's tried it.
i can't wait til the Real Guitar electric edition comes out. hopefully, MusicLabs will do as good of a job as they did with their acoustic guitar model. i don't think any guitar model will ever sound exactly the same, but RG is pretty damn good. if you use it for simple rythmic parts, i think most ears can't tell.

Ok then, thanks for the suggestions people. I'll crack on with this when I get half a second.
Would anyone be interested in guitars through amps (clean)? I thought the Les Paul dry throught the Bluesbreaker might be a nice one, for all those Clapton fans. Iv experimented reamping these clean amp sounds with Amplitube and PodXT - works very well indeed. But the Avalon gives a great clean sound, probably my fave clean DI sound.

I like franky's guitars, but I think some of the vintaudios are a bit flawed in the higher reaches. A solo top E that goes strong and high would be great.
The hammer-on is weak sounding. The swell isn't swollen enough.
I'm interested in trills too, say, between root and 2nd and root 2nd and 7th. And as I mentioned, strong vibrato where the left index finger is shaken by the whole hand. Stuff like that.
I certainly don't want to knock vintaudio - no way. But tee boy did ask.

yep ... nice too.the Vintaudio guitars have key-switched neck positions in addition to mutes, hammer-ons and swells.

I think the guitar library is a difficult one to get right. It probably takes a guitarist (or at least a collab with a guitarist) to really nail it. Obviously there is the issue of realism - sampling enough articulations to make a convincing sampled instrument. But the art I believe is doing it in such a way that allows programs to be moderately sized and managable. This was the problem with 57 Strat imo - to big, to complex. On the flip side you have Han Zimmer Guitars - far to simplistic and unconvincing.
I will take all you guys comments on board definately. Kev, some of your ideas are great - the trill would be very difficult to emulate in the sequencer. But maybe with the right hammer / pull articulations it would be possible. I'd like for my library to make every possible from with in the sequencer, rather than using prerecorded techniques and phrases (which no one really likes).
We'll see, but I have high hopes for the this library. Iv been thinking about it for over a year, but its time to put it into effect. The 62 Strat is a wonderful guitar - I'll have it set up and strung with Hybrid gauge I think so that the bottom is nice and chunky. Between pickup positions sound great on this axe, so I'll definately include them.

I like your approach. Midi is so controllable. I'd never thought of a trill as a series of hammer-ons and pull-offs before. Nice oneI'd like for my library to make every possible from with in the sequencer, rather than using prerecorded techniques and phrases (which no one really likes).

At a retail price of $149.00 for a brand new DVD release in GS3 or Kontakt format... Lyrical Distortion MUST be mentioned!
The product demos will speak volumes with zero perfromace files and zero loops. The range of possibilities is like that of no other sampled guitar library currently available at this price point and beyond!
One key feature is that we have recorded two identical, but yet independent sets of samples (Guitar 1 and Guitar 2).
The user can track right and left guitars, double track a guitar lead and so on.

If you were feeling in a cheap mood, you could try Reactor's free clean samples. Comes with EXS files for logic, but the wavs are there and you can do whatever you like with them. Meh.
