I bought mine abot 6 months ago to learn, its been great, they are going for under £100 on Ebay now.. (EJR) Would any EZ-AG (EG) owners like to swap any midi files? I can be contacted at pol.hope@blueyonder.co.uk (mailto:pol.hope@blueyonder.co.uk) , Cheers, Paulo-

hi,
After reading all these posts I decided to take the plunge and purchase an EZ-AG. Can anyone help me with this problem? When using Sampletank everything works great but with most other soft synths ,the open string continues to sound forever. It only stops when I play a new note on the fretboard. How can I get it to stop sounding? Also, with some other soft synths I get a lot of stuck notes. Any help would be greatly appreciated (computer is PC not Mac) .
Thanks,
Moe

Can you make contact with the touchplate near the bridge of the guitar to stop notes? That's how it's typically used.yesman64 wrote:When using Sampletank everything works great but with most other soft synths ,the open string continues to sound forever.

since zzounds was out of stock on the package with the power supply, i called 8th street and got them to give me a price of $199.99 with free shipping for the EZ-AG + PA3 power supply. it should be arriving monday or tuesday.
over this past week, i've been on a bit of a new gear kick. at this point i've bought sound forge 8 from ttoz, the EZ-AG, a couple packs of bass strings (at $40 bucks a pop), and a damn expensive used modulus 6 string bass. (a 97' quantum 6 with bartolini's and a 2tek bridge!) i think its time to pulled myself back under control.

well, there's always that behringer BCR2000 knob box i've been thinking about.
seriously though, as much of a junkie as i am, this weeks binge takes the cake. i dont expect to be able to afford to pull something like this off again for a very long time. that used modulus cost me $1800!...plus new strings and shipping! its the most expensive instrument i've ever bought. (but holy crapola, what a sound.
but i think my new treasures will keep even a junkie like me happy for a little while.

I have Evolution USB MIDI keyboard with 49 keys. The thing is that I would like to use its sustain pedal with EZ-AG for controlling assignable controls in continuous way.
For example I would like to use sustain pedal as:
- wah-wah pedal for wah-wah VST
- foot controlled vibrato like Marc is doing on his video
- etc...
Is is possible? Maybe sustain pedal have only two positions (on/off) and thus is not appropriate for continuous midi messages.
I looked at the Behringer FCB pedal but it is quite expensive (200 EUR).
cheers

Sustain pedals normally just send 0 or 64, but try a recording in your host to make sure.
The FCB is cheap compared to others and given what you can do with it.
I made a script in my host, so I can use it either with the EZ script or with my keyboard.
I use the switches to transpose octaves, switch channels , and assign functions to the two pedals, without having to touch the mouse or the keyboard(pc), or use it to control VST parameters.
This thing brings life to your VSTi's
Of course, you can add the articulation or any other stuff afterwards, but I like to play it live.

thanks so much to everybody who has contributed here. i just received an AG in the mail three days ago after being convinced by this thread. i have a question though and maybe someone can help:
after i set up everything in midix and kontakt everything works great and i am able to utilize the strings to pick out, say a piano part. the latency is unnoticable when tapping the frets and just slightly noticable when picking the strings. it's fantastic!
the problem arises when i try to use kontakt (or other software samplers or any vsti) as a vsti
in nuendo. if i tap something out on the fretboard nuendo picks up the midi input flawlessly, but if i use the strings to pick the notes
it seems that the midi info gets screwed up. the monitored sound when i play it live is fine but when i play the track back, the notes are cut off and muted. anyone else encounter this or know a way to work around it. thanks.

That's weird, check the key and list editor to see if the recording looks ok.
If you run one of the script app, make sure to set the input port to the virtual driver and not All Inputs, in case you have the direct ez port connected as well.

I think bobby yarrow has a somewhat related problem with his system, that I believe might have been solved by changing the loopback driver (from Maple to MIDI-Yoke).
Perhaps he'll chime in!

ok...im stuck...i cant get either program to work. so here come the newbie 'help me, im an idiot' questions.
ez-ge
all i get is a screen with 3 drop downs (midi in, out and merge), a picture of what the notes on a fingerboard are, and text that says...
[1] Fretboard
Mixes guitar and keyboard: tap-style, but with high-note priority.
Play Mode: Fretboard
...however, its just text...no controls. so i dont understand how i set anything.
in cubase, when i choose the same midi yoke output port i've selected in ez-ge (output 1), nothing in cubase gets played. it would appear that no midi data is making it through to cubase.
midix
should i use eg_ag.hta, or ez_ag 3.hta?
with this program, i see a whole bunch of settings. however, i dont understand what many of them are for at the moment. im assuming all this would become self explanitory once i get everything up and running.
i've set the left split output to my midi yolk out (output 1) but it would appear that im having the same problem as with ez-ge...no midi data is reaching cubase.
btw, i've got midiox and midi yolk installed, and i've run the register.bat file for both EZ programs. also, im running windows XP and cubase SL3.
hopefully i'll be able to sort out the troubles im running into. when playing the ez-ag on its own (internal sounds), i can see how this would be a great controller, with a little bit of tweaking. however, trying it with cubase (and various synths) shows me that i definitely need these programs to make this a useful controller. on its own, it would seem that the touchplate is ignored and both the fretboard triggers and the string triggers are sending data at similar velocities so im getting really obvious doubling, making it useless for anything other than tapping.
speaking of which...if it helps in the setup assistance at all, im much more interested in finger picking with the ez-ag than tapping on it.
thanks for the help,
