I LOVE LIVE :!:

(for all the fantastic, excellent reasons everyone else said already  )

Okay Rob? :hihi:

I got 10 times more songs finished in the three months after I got Live than in the previous two years with my old setup.

I'm trying but their upgrade process is broken!

only big thing in live i hate right now is that i can't use my logic plugs with it (yep, not ableton's fault)... and there's absolutely no way i can afford a ni komplete set - or even a good allround va + sampler + a few nice fx. damnit. i feel like my hands were cut off

that's probably one reason why i've just finished two utterly boring idm/techno tunes after i fell in love with live. it's really really fun to play with but i haven't been able to make any tracks with it i've been really happy with yet. but that's not a live problem really, but a problem in my rig generally.

Got to the correct page from inside Live actually, I think it was through the Help menu.

My browser is not set to block cookies. I tried IE and Firefox, neither works. Anyone have any success upgrading their Live Lite to the full version of Live 4?
Successfully upgraded Live Lite 4.03 Korg Edition (from the Korg Creative Kontrol Pack bundled with the Korg microKontrol) to full Live 4 last May. Used Firefox 1.04 in Windows XP + SP2, with cookies and JavaScript enabled, no problems whatsoever.

And that was the best music-related software purchase I have made since buying Cakewalk 3.0 in 1990.

I'm having a hard time finding a numerical readout for the meters. Can Live show the output RMS this way?

Cool... I'll just use SPAN. :hihi:

duncan btw. i did upgrade the live lite 4 korg edition to live 4 full in june (getting the free live 5 license too) and for me it worked fine like in cone's case. the correct upgrade link was found in the program's menus. i think i used either safari or firefox on mac for the registration but it should of course work with ie or firefox or whatever on pc too.

What was your old setup?

Post

Thanks for the help Cone and zion15. I'd never actually installed the Lite version, now that I have I found the upgrade link in the Preferences. It took me to an upgrade page which I'd found before, and it says it's only for upgrading from previous full versions of Live (1, 2 and 3), but I tried entering in my Lite 4 serial number and it worked. After that my credit card was denied a couple times, I had to call my bank and approve the overseas purchase.

Anyway, after several phone calls, emails, forum posts, and entering my 24 digit serial number about 30 times, I have it now. Hopefully acquiring the free Live 5 update is less hassle.

What was your old setup?
MC-505+Supernova+Roland A-90+Jomox Airbase+Prophet600+TX81Z

When I said old, I meant OLD!

Take the above, and just add Laptop/Live, a couple VSTs and, voila, new setup.

Hey, the MC-505 has my favorite arpeggiator of all time!!! Wish I still had one.
