I'm using Nuendo v3.0 for Audio and MIDI
Occasionally I like to take advantage of some of the MIDI effects like the Arpache 5 Arpeggiator. I want to be able to tweak some of its output just slightly.
I think the best way to do that would be to have it send its output to a different MIDI track so I can manually adjust it. The only way I've been able to do this is to REWIRE its output to a different soft-synth like Reason for instance. Anyone know of any alternatives?

I think the easiest way is to output the track that has the Arpache as an Insert FX, to MIDI Yoke (on Windows), or IAC Bus (Mac), and then create a new MIDI track, whose input is MIDI Yoke/IAC Bus. The Arpache itself has a Thru button, so you can decide if you want the original track mixed in with it or not. A slight variation on that would be to send from the original track to a MIDI Send FX (set to Arpache, of course!), and the Send output to MIDi Yoke/IAC Bus.
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

Or why not just use the 'merge midi in loop' command and choose to apply the midi insert effect? At least, I think I am reading you correctly... You just want a midi file that essentially sounds like the Arpache output?

EDIT: Hmmm... maybe I am not reading you correctly after all... I am not sure what you mean by making adjustments... But if you like the pattern created by arpache, but want to make a slight change, then the merge midi in loop is a useful function...

I tend to use merge midi in loop for 'freezng' the output of arpache and other Midi plugins, but I do have Midi Yoke installed, and that can be useful to record stuff to a new track.

advaya's/Bas's solution is of course the simplest. (one day i'll understand why I always go for the complicated solution first! :hihi: ). In this case it is important to decide if you want the original mixed in with it or not (the "Thru" button on Arpache).

Sweet,
that merge midi in loop was exactly the solution I was looking for. Simple and to the point.

Thank you kindly.

Also, those Midi Yoke/Midi Ox apps look pretty interesting too, I just downloaded them and I'll have to give them a try.

Thank you both for your brilliant suggestions.

you guys were awesome, back in the day 8)

btw, there's a 'merge midi' command in cubase (i'm sure it's in nuendo too) that will reconcile any midi plugin processing with the notes on your midi track - this is all you need to do, forget midi loopback and all that mayhem.

can't recall at the moment exactly where you'll find it, but shouldn't be too hard. i'm about to go to bed but post if you can't find it and i'll dig around tomorrow and tell you exactly what to do
