I expect to see more and more of this from the 'big names'...

At least it seems like a ripoff - for those prices those boxes are way overpriced... (then again, that's the market for Waves users
).
Makes me wonder what's inside, wouldn't surprise me one bit if it turned out that it's nothing more than a small form factor motherboard based PC running linux

Surely nothing FXTeleport can't give you with a spare PC, for half the price?
If the price was less they'd be on to a winner, but I can't help thinking this is spending a lot on something with a higher-than-average chance of early obsolescence.

i don't agree with calling these companies 'big names' - puts too much power in their hands, places too much validation on their attempts to subjugate us with high prices and proprietary hardware
jesus man, get your act together

Saw it 2 days ago on harmony central I thinkttoz wrote:you guys just saw this now?
And as for the big names thing - frankly I reckon Waves are about the only ones in the right market to try something like this - this isn't aimed at hobbyists, not at that price anyway.
I do hope though that they don't use it as an excuse not to code efficiently.
I don't think NI, IK etc will be able to pull something like this off, they're quite supportive of receptor and nativeness in general. Besides, Noah was the thing that finally killed off the original Creamware company - no-one else wants to go down that road.

i don't bother visiting waves.com- i just use their plugins extensively =)
the one thing that i wonder about this little box is... its supposed to take the load of the CPU, right? well... i use loads of waves plugs- VST, RTAS, HTDM- and i find them the most CPU efficient plugs there are. Even on my 1Ghz AMD i can run pretty much as many of their plugs as i want... Although, obviously when i use HTDM plugs they're not going to affect my CPU use too much =)
What a waste of money- their plugs are coded so well anyway =)
