Ok, here is a vague memory from some stony late night in the seventies. I would swear that Mike Oldfield was on Tom Snyder's late show with some sort of instrument that was totally cool to my ears.(circa 1973?) It seems like it was a railroad tie with a single long cable(Pythagoras' monochord?). It gave off this incredible drone. Seemed it played itself too.(Magnetic waves?) Always wanted to make one of those...
Anyone remember what I am talking about?
